“Stunning Location”

Very quiet. Friendly helpful staff. Clean and tidy. Beautiful views over the estuary and it's birdlife. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on the food although it had a wonderful setting with fantastic views.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the estuary the views are tremendous.

The building and the location are impressive. The best in St Helens.
Unfortunately the service and cleanliness are not.
We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was very expensive but not certainly that good.
We ordered things based on the waitress recommendation and a "huge portion" was just enough. The response from the waitress was that the "other" chef makes the portions bigger. Bad luck!
We ordered the dessert based on a dessert we saw served at another table, but ours came much smaller. Enquired again and this time another waitress said the chef had made the other one too big. But she reluctantly brough out another plate with more dessert.
After the less than enjoiable dinner we went to bed.
Already in our PJs and with the suitcase opened we opend up the bed to fing hair in the sheets and the sheets looked like someone had slept in them.
The manager gave us another room and ensured that they iron the sheets, but surprise... I opened the new bed in front of him and the shets were not ironed (again looked like someone had slept in them).
Overall the hotel is good, but they need to improve on service and quality control. And too expensive.

We had lunch here and it was absolutely appalling! From the service to the food itself, this was a really bad experience for both me and my fiancé. You certainly expect a lot better for what you pay (it isn't cheap). In fact, it was so bad that we didn't finish our meals. As we were still hungry though, we decided to go and find another place to eat, so ended up paying for two separate lunches. In some ways it ended up being a blessing in disguise because we found another place in St Helens called The Blue Shed, and this place was fantastic! I couldn't recommend The Blue Shed more highly - what a contrast to Tidal Waters Resort.

A group of us (11) stayed here for one of our annual get togethers. The place is quite impressive with its lovely gardens and views over the bay. Rooms are fine, spacious and all with balconies. The resort is very well located within the town of St Helens...you can walk to the main street in just a few minutes.
I was a bit disappointed that there was no water in the fridge...we never use the mini bar ever, so the fact that there wasn't one was fine....but a jug of cold water is always appreciated.
The meal of the evening was a real let down.
While the price is not too bad, $36 for and eye fillet, you do expect it to be good.
My husband found his steak overcooked, the mushroom tart and the asparagus it was served with dry and un-appealing. Two ladies had baked Chicken breast and weren't overly impressed with that and one person was happy with their fish choice, the other not happy at all.
On the up side with the mains, I had Lemon Prawn Linguine and loved it, a good serving of prawns and very tasty.
Three ladies had deserts, mine was a very dry chocolate cake type thing, the lady who had cheesecake found that awful. ....the other lady had the trio of homemade icecream... she found the icecream lovely but wow the serving was huge, like almost a cup of each flavour...she managed to eat about a third of it.
Over all, the consensus for the evening meal was "not good enough" and we will probably give Tidal Waters a miss for any future get togethers.

We have stayed here before, so a return visit shows that we think this is an ok place - especially if you find a package deal. All the staff that we dealt with were friendly and helpful.

It is great to sit on your private balcony overlooking the wetland area and have predinner drinks. Similarly, if you have breakfast included, it is very pleasant to have that on the deck outside the restaurant - weather permitting. Our package included continental breakfast, which was the standard cereal, yoghurt and fruit (not fresh fruit) and an assortment of breads. It was fine for what it was.

We had a package which also included dinner. We enjoyed the meal, but the offereings and prices didn't entice us to eat there on a second night - as we had originally thought that we might do. This is in contrast to when we last stayed and had a great meal for a price that seemed more reasonable. We recommend the floating fish and chips place nearby.

The rooms are relatively spacious and clean. As others have mentioned, noise can be a problem - the walls seem very thin and you will hear passersby in the corridor and children in surrounding rooms. The bathroom and spa are clean and adequate, although the shower is small and the bathroom fan, which can't be turned off, is noisy.

All in all, it would be safe to say that we will probbaly stay here again, but wil it will be at a time when the prices are right.

Room Tip: The end of a corridor might be a place where there is less passing foot traffic and noise.

We found it difficult to find anywhere in St Helen that was actually open and happy with a one night stay - hence ended up at Tidal Waters.
The property (its not a resort) has been open for 9 years and is very clean.

FOR:
A good location - easy walking distance to everything in St Helens.
The room was very spacious and clean.

AGAINST:
The whole place was very flimsily built (almost shoddy) - walls are paper-thin, lino - not tiles in bathroom and possibly the smallest shower I had ever seen! Plumbing all exposed and no shelf room.
The lighting in the car-park at night is almost non existant or over-grown with shubbery.
We were previously warned about the meals at the restaurant so did not dine there and breakfast was only available in your room as previously stated.
No view from a graden view room as "garden" is ill-tended.
Advertised log-fires were actually just daggy old wood-heaters....
Bedding was blankets, sheets and an old daggy bed-spread
TV was very small and not a flat screen!
And lastly the bar fridge and the bathroom fan were just so noisy!

We paid 150AUD which I feel was over-priced for the season and what we got.
Probably would not bother staying here again.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here ask for a water view!
