“Reasonable value but wouldn't stay again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

The unit in which we stayed had all the facilities described in other reviews i.e. a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine and a lounge room. However, all the furnishings were very dated. The bathroom was extremely basic to the point that I preferred not to have a shower in the morning. The unit was not very clean with hairs and dust on the sink. I had to clean the surface around the sink to be able to put my toiletries there.

The bed was adequate and reasonable quality. We did not use the kitchen as only stayed for one night however the appliances looked very old and the tea towels were extremely worn out.

The hosts were nice and friendly.

Overall, may be of a reasonable value if travelling with a large family.

These are situated just outside the centre of St. Helens on the Tasman Highway. There is a variety of sized units available. We had the smallest double unit. These units are very clean, tidy and well maintained and laid out and have great facilities. The bedroom housed a large double bed with electric blanket and adequate storage space. The main seating area had a comfortable settee, heater, a TV and a dining table and chairs. The kitchen area is large and has full cooker, a fridge free zer, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery etc. The bathroom has a good, rigid walled shower and also houses a washing machine and sink as well as handbasin and toilet. They represent very good value for money. Be careful to check your reservation, however. We booked well in advance and also sent a reminder but we were not expected- lucky there were vacancies anyway!

We stayed at this place, one night with 2 teenagers and one night as couple. Both rooms were really good, spacious and have good basic facilities. What I like is the kitchen and utensils/pots and pans. We were surprised and delighted to see how well equipped the kitchen is as it has got all the little stuff you don't typically find in serviced apartments but will be good to have to actually help you to cook rather than just warming food. The place has its own chickens so we were able to buy their authentic free range eggs for not much money which was really good. We also get to enjoy some of the owner's aviaries along with alpacas (not sure if theirs or some guests'). Just one slight observation, make sure you wash or rinse some of the kitchen items. The facility has a note to request guest to clean up after themselves so my guess is they don't clean after guests left and some guests to not do a good job of this so safer to wash everything before you actually use them. Overall it is very enjoyable, owners easy to deal with and lovely place.

The units are a real home away from home with everything you might need including a kitchen, dining table, laundry and spacious lounge.

Everything was clean and fresh even though the decor is a little dated.

Prior to our arrival, the fire had been lit which made the place cosy and homely.

The units are easy to find and within walking distance of the town centre.

This is probably the best value accommodation in town and I would certainly stay here again.

We spent one night in these units in November. We just walked in off the street and received a friendly welcome.

Units were great; very clean and comfortable. It was a bit like staying with your granny - everything was kind of old-fashioned but nice. We loved the Laz-e-boy reclining chairs in the living room of the unit we had. Bit like stepping back 30 years. Also didn't notice any technology in the office - no visible computer and our reservation was noted in a huge old-style ledger.

An excellent, comfortable place to stay and well worth the very reasonable $100 we paid.

Very well priced, clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed self contained accommodation.
Staff welcoming, friendly and helpful - ask them where to buy the biggest, freshest oysters you will ever taste! We would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in that part of the world. Great value for money.

Lovely big space great to have kitchen and laundry, bed not so comfortable. $100 for three adults in two bedroom unit seemed good value. We phoned ahead to make the booking and the person was very friendly and gave clear instructions on finding the place. No sea view but we had a lovely rural view instead with chickens. 0.8 kms past the town centre so better for people with a car rather than on foot.
