My family and I stayed two nights in Scottsdale when we first got to Tasmania as we couldn't find any accomodation for the four of us in Launceston.
We were so glad we did. What a lovely introduction to Tasmania, and to Bed and Breakfast accommodation at Beulah Heritage Bed and Breakfast.Very comfortable rooms and beds with a knockout home cooked breakfast included in a grand dining room. Multiple course brekky with all manner of choices from yoghurt, bacon and eggs, homemade muesli (thumbs up), real milk (pasteurised only), fresh fruit and produce from the vege patch and all manner of freshly made jams and rhubarb products- relishes, juice. We felt like kings and all cooked to order by Jan at a time that suited us. The girls learnt how to play pool and at night we lit the fire in the guests lounge room and read and talked. Free internet and we were even offered skype to call our daughter overseas. Beautiful gardens.
The pub across the road does a great old fashioned counter meal. The rump steak was supersize and very good. Although sadly they had run out of Tassie wine to wash it down with.
Scottsdale is an old fashioned country town that is trying to survive post logging. Friendly people and nearby Bridport Beach was great for our first freezing but gorgeous swim in Tassie waters. Quaint town with above average bed and breakfast accomodation. A good place to pass through to get to St Helens. Central to the North East corner of Tassie. Make sure you see spectacular St Columba's Falls nearby. Also nearby Janz champagne estate, Lavender Farm and forests.
