My family and I stayed two nights in Scottsdale when we first got to Tasmania as we couldn't find any accomodation for the four of us in Launceston.
We were so glad we did. What a lovely introduction to Tasmania, and to Bed and Breakfast accommodation at Beulah Heritage Bed and Breakfast.Very comfortable rooms and beds with a knockout home cooked breakfast included in a grand dining room. Multiple course brekky with all manner of choices from yoghurt, bacon and eggs, homemade muesli (thumbs up), real milk (pasteurised only), fresh fruit and produce from the vege patch and all manner of freshly made jams and rhubarb products- relishes, juice. We felt like kings and all cooked to order by Jan at a time that suited us. The girls learnt how to play pool and at night we lit the fire in the guests lounge room and read and talked. Free internet and we were even offered skype to call our daughter overseas. Beautiful gardens.
The pub across the road does a great old fashioned counter meal. The rump steak was supersize and very good. Although sadly they had run out of Tassie wine to wash it down with.
Scottsdale is an old fashioned country town that is trying to survive post logging. Friendly people and nearby Bridport Beach was great for our first freezing but gorgeous swim in Tassie waters. Quaint town with above average bed and breakfast accomodation. A good place to pass through to get to St Helens. Central to the North East corner of Tassie. Make sure you see spectacular St Columba's Falls nearby. Also nearby Janz champagne estate, Lavender Farm and forests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beulah. We were instantly made to feel welcome on arrival & showed to our room (which had been upgraded to a room with spa & sauna attached). We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the room, especially the bathroom. The bed was incredibly comfortable and very warm which is something we've rarely found on trips away. Our breakfast was absolutely scrumptious - fruit, yoghurt, homemade muesli, homemade stewed apple & rhubarb, then eggs, bacon, sausages, cooked mushrooms & toast, with homemade rhubarb relish & several homemade jams to choose from too. We even sampled some of the famous Rhu Bru! We were delighted to speak, at length, with our hosts Jan & Holger. Such a lovely couple who were happy to chat, but also allowed us space to enjoy our Beulah experience. We would highly recommend Beulah as an accommodation retreat for those wishing to take in some country air & country hospitality.

We booked this as part of our honeymoon holiday in Tassie. Undoubtedly, this has to be the BEST accomodation we've had!

As we entered the house, we were greeted by the very friendly host - Jan. Her place is beautiful! Huge beautiful garden with many different flowers in bloom. Home was very tastefully designed, many antique and country pieces.

We had the room on the first floor - complete with a real fire-place, sauna, jacuzzi tub big enuff for 2! The bedroom is beautiful, and most certainly comfortable. In the evening, we savoured the yummy cookies and tea provided in the room.

Breakfast was a huge spread - including jams, muffins and toast all made by Jan the host. Everything tasted sooo good!

Jan was a great host, and we got along really well. She gave us suggestions on places to go to, wonderful sights and some history on these places!

All in all, it's absolute indulgence.

  • Liked — The hospitality, room, breakfast.
  • Disliked — Nothing!

We were booked at this B&B as part of our honeymoon. It was really amazing - we had a sitting room, a bedroom with a real fireplace with real wood, a private sauna, and private jacuzzi tub. It was very romantic!!! Falling asleep by the fire after a hottub and sauna was a memory we will never forget!

Breakfast was great - homemade caramel muffins, an array of local cheeses, rhubarb juice, coffee, tea, toast, eggs, and more!! Great food and wonderful hosts.

We loved this part of Tasmania and were sad we only got one night at this great establishment. This is a very romantic getaway spot - and while I am sure all the rooms aren't as nice, it's hard to imagine any being bad at this place!
