We stumbled onto Stewarts Bay Lodge simply by asking for directions whilst eating at Barrilla Bay Oysters near the Hobart airport. The lady there recommeded the place but couldn't rembember the name but recounted the way to find it - she was right.
Unfortunately Optus signal is terrible in that part of the world (that's what we had) and found it simply by hunting about- Not hard to find if you know the name of course!
On our arrival we found the place almost full even though it has 41 cabins of differing quality and age.
We were offered only 2 options and took the cheaper which was an older but updated cabin which looked fine.
And it was fine in all respects except the property being almost totally full and on a 'long weekend' was totally stretched with their staff.
Apparently there had been a wedding party family in the cabin the night before and although the cleaners had done there best, it still showed a few signs of the last inhabitants- not so great.
We discussed this problem the next day with the manager, who immediately looked agast, wanted to remedy the issues.
We took the option of moving to one of the updated cabins close to the main building and restaurant.
The new cabin was great
There was a spa in the bathroom and a lovely view of the bay and bush.
I thought the design and locations of the new cabins was excellent and a touch of luxury to go.
The trees around us were in bloom and were often filled with birds( including lorrakeets I think) and we saw wallabies and other creatures scurrying around at dusk in the bush.
We enjoyed our last night there immensely
