“Peaceful , cosy and close to everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

Private, well maintained cottage with EVERYTHING. Thermos, chairs BBQ pit etc. Staff extremely helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our stay and would love to return and stay longer. A great place to chill out or take quiet drives and view all the wildlife of the island. Recommend this accomodation without hesitation.

Enjoyed my stay immensely. Cottage had everything that one could wish for, very thoughtfully furnished. John and Rhonda were gracious hosts, available but not intrusive. Am very keen for a return visit. Only negative aspect is the lack of control over the weather!!! Be prepared for wet and windy days but when it is fine it is absolutely gorgeous. Loved it.

What a great experience living in a nice cosy cottage along side the beach. Very well taken care of by John and Rhonda during my entire stay in King Island. Not only did John orientate the various facilities in the cottage when I first arrived, he also provided advise on how to prevent running over the wallaby crossing the roads at night. Thanks for his guidance, I also found places to have relaxing sumptuous dinner in King Island. coming from Sydney, the night temperature might be a little cold for me, the powerful gas heater works wonders. John has maintained the cottage neat and clean and with the newly upgraded toilet (I think so, it looks new), it just makes the stay enjoyable. John's hospitality and generosity just makes me want to go for a visit again.

We needed a good rest from very busy lives.........we found more than we expected.
The roads are so quite, but for the crazy wild turkeys, peacocks and pheasants and the occasional suicidal wallaby!

The cottage reminded us of seaside cottages from our youth, but much better facilities and very comfortable beds, so relaxing!

Some days were cold outside, but super cosy inside with a good gas fire and excellent sat TV and DVD gear, we revisited multiple episodes of Bergerac! (dates us, eh?).

Jon and Rhonda helped heaps, local advice and knowledge, stories of the work making the place, they run a very clean and tidy show, but keep a warm rural feel to the place; Bessie, their dog, loves a walk and was a good substitute for our furkids!

very easy to explore the settlement and rest of the island from here, especially with the new road.

We did not want to go home, that pretty much sums it up! And we keep telling folk how good the place is, we should have stayed longer.

Glenda and Paul Blackwell; Geraldton WA

Room Tip: If your husband snores, the spare bed in the front room is very good!

Our experience was perfect from beginning to end. John fully responded to our queries before we made our booking, and mailed us useful information about the Island when our booking was confirmed. We were warmly welcomed by John (and Bessie the dog) upon arrival. John showed us our cottage, explained the facilities and provided friendly and helpful advice about the Island, facilities, restaurants and places to visit.
Bessie is a lovely girl who enjoys a good pat and has the softest coat. She loves her ball, is very respectful (does not jump up) and does not bark.
The cottage is very clean and functional and has everything required for self-catering. The dining table is strategically placed beside a large window, enabling visitors to enjoy the well-maintained garden and the view to Councillor Island and out to sea. We took advantage of a special continental breakfast offer and thoroughly enjoyed Rhonda's home-made jams. The bed is very comfortable (yay!!) and we enjoyed good sleep for our entire stay. We stayed in mid-winter during a particularly wet and windy period, but remained warm and cosy while in the cottage.
The internal photos on the website show a CRT TV and small heater, but these have both been upgraded to a flat-screen TV with satellite (some Tasmanian TV channels are not available) and DVD player, and a very efficient gas heater.
There is a wood-fired BBQ, games room and free DVD library available.
Restaurants in the area close for periods during winter, so you should check availability if not planning to self-cater and not wishing to drive the 25 km to Currie to dine.

Another wonderful stay at these lovely cottages at Naracoopa on the East Coast of King Island. We visited in Summer last time and this time we thought we would check out the Winter seascape. Thanks again John, Rhonda and Bessie for your warm hospitality. We are looking forward to our next visit already and we will see you at the end of the year!
