5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2010

Very comfortable rooms with an historic feel. Each room is named after a different member of the Geeves family (Geeveston) and there is a small history of the person in the room. Although we were there in the coldest month, we were very comfortable and warm and the breakfast was very good. The house is very close to a lot of interesting walks (including the wonderful airwalk) and also close to wineries, caves and thermal pools (wonderful in the winter weather) and even a boat building centre! There are good restaurants close by, and even an indoor pool and sauna just up the road. We would definitely stay again!

Karen and Glenn are great hosts and helped make our stay easy and comfortable. Glenn cooks a mean breakfast and gave us a good start to the day, visitng the many attractions in the vicinity. While it can be quite cool in Winter, some warm clothes for the outside visits to the many attractions in the area and the great sunny days (more often than not) make for a wonderful break. The airwalk is fantastic, the caves, the local wineries and cheese making are a must. Great to meet some of the locals who are so friendly and helpful.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2010

A group of friends and I booked out the Cambridge for a weekend in July 2010 while we were visiting Geeveston for a friend's 40th birthday.

Karen and her husband (sorry I don't remember his name!) were wonderful hosts and a highlight of the weekend was certainly the very tasty (and very generous) breakfasts that are laid on each day .. but more on that later.

The B&B offers two different types of room - on the ground floor two ensuite rooms and upstairs three smaller rooms which share a bathroom. I was lucky enough to book an ensuite room ahead of my friends and enjoyed having a bit more space, a TV/DVD player and an ensuite bathroom (with underfloor heating - a must in Tassie in winter!).

We also had the use of a guest lounge with a TV and DVD collection and the grounds which border on a small creek inhabited by platypus.

My room was very clean and well maintained as was the entire property.

Breakfast each day was amazing, including home-made fruit compotes and jams and very tasty bacon and eggs.

Location wise the Cambridge is close to the centre of Geeveston and in a quiet, non-main road location.

I'd definitely stay again.

Karen made us feel right at home, and the apple and blackberry compote with yoghurt for breakfast was sensational. We'll be back.

On the night of March 3, 2010, we stayed at the Cambridge House in Geeveston on the Huon Trail. It’s a beautiful, fully restored 1870 house, well maintained and in a picturesque setting. The place is charming and clean. Everything from the grounds (including the platypus family which live in the adjacent Kermandie River), to the breakfast (which includes delicious home made fruit preserves), was first rate! The hosts, Karen and Glen, were both very hospitable and provided tips on the area attractions.

We stayed in the very comfortable "Giffen Suite. The room was immaculate, with high ceilings and antique furnishings…the queen size bed and coverings were very comfy.

Although we only stayed for the one night, I would stay there again and without hesitation, recommend other travellers to do the same. This was our first experience ever staying at a B&B. We enjoyed it so much that we stayed in another B& B the next night (Fox Hunters Return in Campbell Town). We will definately use B&B’s in future travels. We have been to Australia a couple of times, but this was our first visit to Tasmania. So far, it is our favourite state - so relaxed, so scenic, and such wonderful people. We plan to come back.

Our stay at at geeveston was enjoyable, staying at cambridge house.
After our stay we spoke to a lot of local people in town ,and one man suggested
that in the upstairs bedroom with a small annexed bedroom with two single beds
in it. Legend has it thatThere apparently was a fire (long ago),started from a candle in that room.
setting fire to the curtains and consequently taking the life of a young girl..she is said to haunt that room.
None of our party saw anything....but I wished I had of known as I would have been more vigilant
Tottaly enjoyed our stay

As Queenslanders we wanted to experience 'life in a cold climate'. We found Cambridge House absolutely delightful. Our room (I think it was the 'Geeves Room') exuded old world charm but with classy modern amenities. The guest lounge is a cosy place to have a quiet drink and unwind without worrying the owners (whose living area is totally seperate.)

Breakfasts were great (with the added benefit of some of Karen's homemade condiments). Nothing seemed too much trouble.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Platypus due to rain during the two days we were there - perhaps next time!

We would definitely stay there again.
