“Unbelievable!! Saffire..wow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Saffire gave us every experience that we wanted for our Tassie trip. My husband on the way to Tassie did his ankle leaving Brisbane and by the time we got to Hobart he needed a hospital, plaster and crutches. This changed out plans of what we were going to do, after a couple of days in other places we looked up Saffire and took a long swallow at the cost and though, nope got to try this. We called and we could get in. It was one of our best decisions ever!! We were taken care of perfectly, nothing was an issue.. I was looking for Pepperberry mustard. The chef came out and spoke to me, told me they'd have 2 jars for me the next day. We were concerned about our timeframe to get back to the airport, no problem, "..we can take the crutches back". Never any problems. Food was the best we have ever had on a holiday, the service was heavenly. The scenery breathtaking. We loved it so much, we will be back! We could never rate this place high enough.

Room Tip: Any room is magnificent.

Saffire is equally as good as Qualia (Hamilton Island) and offer unique service and accommodation. Food was great and the views the best. Hotel staff very professional and warming to you. Located on the edge of coles bay, this resort is so peaceful and worth every cent. The only negative is being able to afford to return again to experience the best place in Tassie!! The resort is international standard and makes an Australian very proud of.

Room Tip: choose a unit 1-9 for better views. Also the higher room type is worth it.

As someone with professional and personal experience of premium accommodation around the world, I approached our 4-night stay at Saffire with 'managed expectations'. It exceeded them in spades. The service in particular was outstanding - executive chef Hugh treated us like part of the family. Food, service, spectacular surroundings, luxury accommodation - this is as good as the legendary lodges of New Zealand, California and Vancouver Island.

A truly unmatched accommodation experience. Highlights include the views of hazards, the warm service and the food which capitalises on Tasmania's abundant produce. The dining experience provided by the talented chefs in the beautiful dining room catering to only hotel guests is truly amazing. The small touches add to your experience; the staff greet you by name, hot water bottles left in your bed while you are out at dinner and the all inclusive mini bar. The rooms are spacious, private and decked out with all of the modern amenities. All rooms have an amazing view of the bay. We always rave about Saffire to our family and friends and we are never disappointed on our return trips. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 3 nights over Easter 2013.

The room we had was faultless and we could not suggest any improvements. It was spacious and very nicely appointed. It was in the centre of the property and enjoyed an unsurpassed view to Coles Bay. Try and get a room is the centre as the rooms at either end of property overlook bush.

The overall impression of the property and its location were stunning.

What let the property down was the food and restaurant service. The food had no feeling and was very mechanical. On one evening we both ordered a fish dish. My was fine but was wife's was not cooked at all,

The service was poor more especially as there were ony 20 tables and all occupied over Easter.

Even though the tariff included all meals I was surprised that lunch was a buffet with a limited choice of barbequed meat or fish. I would not normally eat a buffet and would avoid restaurants that serve these for lunch or dinner.

Dear Happytraveller2211,
Thank you so much for your feedback, and I am glad that you enjoyed your accommodation. I certainly agree that we occupy a stunning location.
I am concerned by your comments regarding the service in the restaurant. Feedback regarding this element of our guest experience is generally that it is warm and welcoming rather than “mechanical”.
Regarding lunch, I must say that we have tried a number of styles of service. Currently Chef Hugh prepares a number of very fresh and imaginative salads, antipastos and cold cuts for selection, as well as a number of proteins cooked to order. This format has received more praise by our guests than any other as it is fresh, delightfully casual, and can be taken at ones leisure between spa treatments or activities. While there are elements to it where you are welcome to help yourself, It is certainly not in any stretch of the imagination a buffet. Alternatively, we would have been delighted to have prepared you a lunch from our extensive all day a la carte lounge menu. I am sorry if this was not made clear.
Happytravller2211, thank you for your feedback, and I am glad that you generally enjoyed your visit. We look forward to welcoming you back one day soon.

Warm Regards
Justin King

From the warm welcome as soon as you pull into the driveway to the time you leave. The staff are trully first class and what really makes the place shine.
The views are breathless and the food is exceptional as we had the tasting menu in the evening and the lovely small buffet lunch. You must do the marina walk out in waders to see how oysters glow and then have a glass of champagne while eating fresh oysters is an experience we will not forget.
If you come to Tasmaina this is a must even if it is only one night.
Thank you to all staff you really make this place shine :)

My husband and I spent three nights at Saffire for a special occasion - and our first holiday away from the children. It was the perfect destination for this!

We'd organised to be picked up by Saffire. The driver, overhearing that I was tired and ready for a relaxing bath - unbeknownst to me - rang ahead and when I arrived in what I can only describe as a speculator lodge with breathtaking views we were to call home for the next few days - a hot bath had been run with candles and rose petals.

The hotel offers a variety unique experiences that you may choose to do while there. We didn't go overboard with the activities because we really just wanted to stop but we did do the oyster farm - where we were given a pair of waders to wear as we went out into the bay to shuck some oysters - and enjoy them standing in the middle of the bay with a pristine tablecloth and champagne! A pelican and seal were only metres away.

The lodge rooms are luxurious - but not ostentatious, with every possible comfort catered for. The meals are delicious, the wine list to die for. Although its indulgent and decadent - it's been done in a very relaxed way. You can choose to dress for dinner or just go casual. You can mix and mingle with other guests or you can just hang out together.

The staff are extremely attentive. It really did feel like it was our own private resort. We will definitely be going back. The freycinet national park is stunning with so much to see and do.
