“Brilliant burgers and crunchy chips!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Drift is a great little cafe on the shoreline of Northern Tasmania. They do sit down food in a cafe style but the interior is a little cold and uninviting (but has a good bar with lots of local beers, ales and drinks). The best time to visit is during the day, a sunny day when you can experience their superb burgers and eat them outside or on the lawn/ beach. Their burgers include a thai fish (ling I think) burger with a typical thai salad al inside a bun, as well as lamb and more traditional burgers. The chips are fantastic too and everything is good value for money.

It's a fun little place to visit for lunch on a trip through Devonport or if you're visiting town for work or play (like getting the ferry to the mainland). Well worth a visit in my opinion!

“Battered and bruised!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

We unfortunately lunched at Drift, the service was poor, the décor dull and the food almost inedible. My companion and I ordered the battered fish of the day but foolishly didn't ask what fish, it was Salmon BATTERED, needless to say it was not pleasant and most was left uneaten, Who batters Salmon?

Staff that handled money failed to wash hands or apply gloves when preparing food, disgusting habit!

“Great place for lunch on a sunny day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

If the weather is good, this is a very nice place to have lunch in the sun outside looking out over the beach. We had the vegetarian burgers (about $10) which were pretty good, but the main attraction is the location.

“Treatment of staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2014

I thought initially that this restaurant really had a future on the coast, but with extremely substandard treatment of staff and the management sacrificing the future of young people trying to make a go, in order to cover their own mismanagement, I think it is about time that these people be made accountable for their actions. It is so easy for people to put the blame for mismanagement on their staff, when appropriate training and guidance measures were non existant. The site is awesome, the staff WERE good, the management needs to face up to not being capable
