“Nice rooms but bring the ear plugs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Cannot complain about the price or the rooms which appeared to have been recently upgraded. And room service was quick, good and reasonably priced. Even the staff were helpful and friendly. BUT the rooms were very very noisy. Whether it came from the room next door, the people out in the hallway or from the cars and people outside it didn't seem to stop all night. We did stay a Saturday night and that may have compounded the issue but it was a long and sleepless night!. My tips - book the top floor at the far end of the hallway and pray you dont have anyone in the room next door!

Room Tip: Take ear plugs!

Renovated rooms, with everything you really need. We stayed in king room with breakfast which was great - could still smell the paint do must be newly done!

Can't say anything bad - breakfast was more than good and the staff were brilliant! Love the cider bar! A must do for any Englishman or Cider lover!

There are some great places to stay in Tasmania and this ranks up with them on price, quality and service!

We will stay again!

I was very pleasantly surprised at the stylish renovation this hotel has had. It is now fresh, clean and modern and would most likely be the lovliest hotel along this coast now. The bed was really comfortable and I had a great nights sleep. I definitely will return and I highly recommend it!

This so called modern spa suite is in my opinion a pretty basic room, well over priced and you need a tertiary education to operate the blinds lights and curtains.... Level 4 view nice and boats not loud, good area but seedy pokies bar downstairs!

Stayed here on a work trip in February. Not a lot of options in Devonport and the hotel was good but not great. Had been recently renovated and was spacious. I didn't like the way the lights in the bathroom were automatically turning on and runnng without being able to turn them off when you were done. Had a west facing room, and would have been nice to have a fan or airconditioner as the room was quite warm in the evening, but cooled down at night. Like all Australian hotels everything extra is charged for, unlike the US so beware of that. A good location central to everything.

Stayed 1 night in a twin room. Very modern, assume it has been refurbished, very clean and really no complaints. Tea/Coffee, biscuits all good quality, flat screen Tv, quiet. The bathroom had a glass door which may limit privacy although you couldnt really see through it but light cam on automatically which was a bit annoying when you went in during middle of night.
Restaurant and Bar downstairs were closed due to Easter Holiday however nice meals across road. Would recommend and stay again..depending on price. It would be the best hotel in Devonport. There are plenty of self contained apartments and small hotels but nothing like Gateway.

Room Tip: Get a higher room facing the Spirit Terminal....its good to watch the ship turn around in a tiny lit...

This hotel is the best I have stayed in for years. I arrived 3 hours late. The young lady at reception was exceptional pleasant and helpful. The room was far better than some of the so called quality rooms in Melbourne. It was splendid in every detail. Very quite location. The lady at breakfast was also a very delightful and helpful person. Holding my table for while I completed my checkout. Once again by a delightful and happy receptionist. The cook breakfast was equal to the best I have experience in a place like this. The scramble eggs sensational. I stayed there two nights later and was rewarded with the same extremely pleasant services. Every one concerned should very proud. Thank you all.
