We stayed in the' Bottom' Pub a few years ago and had a great visit. The people were so friendly
and the atmosphere warm. Great food. We kept the locals amused with our pool game which lasted an hour. We were laughing so much at ourselves they were laughing too. Don't miss out. Dave and Sherry Robbo

Another family lunch outing in an ideal venue for a mixed age group. It is a very picturesque drive from Hobart to Cygnet which is an added bonus for eating out in this restaurant.
There are two areas for dining. One in an area behind the bar and another in the cafe area. Both spaces are carpeted with comfortable padded chairs. It was quite a chilly winter's day but inside it was warm and cosy.

We ate in the cafe area which has an amazing collection of dolls' house furniture set up behind glass cases. There are various household rooms and styles depicted. Great for children and for those interested in miniature handicraft.

But back to the most important thing!. The menu and the quality of the food. There is a great variety available with warming soups and breads on the entree list for example, and plenty of seafood and meat dishes as mains. As well pasta dishes are available. In addition there was a blackboard menu with some amazingly cheap specials - beer battered flat head for $12.00 and also roast chicken for the same price. Two off us at our table had the Huon Atlantic salmon plus vegetables and the other three had the seafood selection featuring crumbed scallops , calamari and trevalla, with either salad and chips or vegetables. My salmon was very tasty, the accompanying mashed potato delicious but the peas and corns were of the frozen variety and looked a little over microwaved. But serving sizes were generous and the food nice and hot.
The waitress who looked after us was very efficient and pleasant and our meals and drinks came promptly.
I was very impressed with the prices compared to many pub meals today. Our bill totalled just under $130 dollars for 5 mains, one beer, one cider, one coffee, two soft drinks. Definitely great value!

The restaurant here is fantastic - very good value (mains from $15-28) and huge serves. You only need to eat a main and you all full. They also have a good range of wines and ciders as you would expect. With food being so expensive in Australia now, it is nice to come somewhere and get vlaue for money. Try the parmigiana - yum!

Last year we stayed at cygnet commercial hotel (they call it "the bottom pub") for the folk festival and had a great time - it was the best and busiest place in town, the rooms all had tv's and were really neat and clean and CHEAP! The food was really nice counter meals and the cooked brecky was awesome. We're back this year again (Prices are the same too. 85 bucks for double with breaky, looking forward to it!

Room Tip: Nothings real quiet during the folk festival, but all the rooms looked okay
