“If you've thought of it - they have it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

I'm sure many of us have stayed I privately run B&B's and found ourselves thinking of ways in which the place could be improved with just a bit more attention to detail or more thought could be given as to how holiday makers like to use their space.

Well, readers of my reviews know I am not shy at speaking my mind and holding hospitality operators accountable for the service. However In this instance I am in awe with how perfectly perfect this beautiful B&B is and am enjoying the daily surprises of a fresh home cooked piece of pie in the fridge, a decanter of port well poised on a coffee table surrounded by comfortable chairs, piled with pillows and draped with the type of rugs you would actually wrap around yourself.

The king size bed sits in a spacious room with plenty of natural light to look out and enjoy the water view, and by the time your ready to explore the bathroom a modern spa bath with piles of freshly washed towels lures you into a hot tub where one can pass hours with a good book and nip of port .

Just think about what you'd expect in your perfect B&B and then read on:
Separate entry and hall way leading into your own foyer
A spacious lounge/dining room with all the expected tv and gadgets plus a generously stocked breakfast fridge of sliced cheese, meats and bread. Eggs, milk, orange juice, cereals and jam. Endless tea and coffee and home baked pie! This breakfast feast gets refreshed every day and with a mini fridge, microwave & kettle you can even purchase some extra supplies to see you through the week.

The master bedroom with its king size bed also has wall heating and electric blankets and plenty of cupboard space, while the luxurious bathroom is large, clean and abundantly supplied with towels and products

The overall decor is a complementary mix of Bavarian warmth and Parisian chic. Thought has gone into everything and in particular the small details which you wouldn't miss if they weren't there but you also notice and appreciate because they are.

If you've talked about visiting Tasmania then put cygnet on your list and absolutely book and stay here. It is by no means the most expensive and you'll feel like you should have paid much more!!

Welcoming and relaxing it's an idyllic location to base yourself for a week of exploring.

Cygnet's filled with wonderful cafes, shops and antique stores and is only a 4.6km walk and a perfect way to start your day. With a hire car you can explore the other little villages including Huonville and Franklin - both larger than Cygnet and with more great vintage stores to get lost in.

Nothing is too far in Tasmania - the drive from Hobart Airport to cygnet can be done in a leisurely hour - for many of us our daily commute from home to work is more than an hour and I'm pretty sure a gourmet breakfast and spa bath doesn't await us!

Thank you to our wonderful hosts who take pride in creating such a quality experience. To all my readers start stepping outside your comfort zones and into the hearts of these beautiful homes - you'll be amazed at how refreshing authentic hospitality really is!!

One of the best set up Bed and Breakfasts we have stayed in around the world. You have your own space and the little touches make it an amazing experience. After coming in from a day of exploring the southern Tasmanian region a delicious cake awaits for afternoon tea.
We went out to the Cygnet Hotel (the top pub) and the food was plentiful and fresh with typical Tasmanian friendly hospitality. Beate was away but Paul was the perfect host making sure we were settled. The breakfast provisions were ample for a good start to the day. We would recommend Green Gables B&B to everyone visiting Tasmania.

During our trip to Tasmania in the New Year, my partner and I decided to stay at Green Gables in Cygnet for a couple of nights, since it was very close to the ferry for Bruny Island.

We were warmly welcomed by our host Paul (Beate was at the Food Festival in Hobart at the time). The level of service was exceptional, especially the thoughtfulness to accommodate our gluten free dietary requirements. The room itself was so cosy and luxurious, we couldn't have asked for nicer accommodation in such homely, peaceful surroundings.

Not only that, being a small country town, we never expected to find a quirky, organic restaurant (Red Velvet Cafe) in the heart of the town and were also more than pleasantly surprised with the cuisine at the local pub (so tasty).

We truly enjoyed our stay at Green Gables and would definitely visit again with no question!

I stayed here early Feb 2013 and would not hessitate to stay again. The hosts are great and not in your face. The fresh cake each afternoon was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast is assemble yourself with all the ingredients provided including having to cook your own fresh farm eggs. This allowed us to laze around and not have to rush to make a set breakfast like other B&B's. Lunch and dinner options are in the local town of Cygnet (a few kms away). The choices were The Red Velvet restaurant, take away pizza and pub meal in the Commercial Hotel. The second pub was still being rennovated. Just be careful when visiting the same weekend as Targa Tasmania. The two shortest roads back to Hobart were closed and we had to take the long route.

What a wonderful B&B, huge king size bed, spa and your own lounge room, what more could you ask for. A bonus was the lovely cakes Beate’s leaves for you in the afternoon, absolutely delicious, would highly recommend this place to anyone, it was just perfect. The little pub in town was also lovely for dinner with great tasting meals at reasonable prices.

Just a brief stay over in Cygnet at this lovely BnB. The views from the breaky table out to the bay were stunning. With birds chirping and bees buzzing in the pretty gardens, this place is gorgeous. Highly recommended to those who appreciate fine things.

Room Tip: There are only a couple of rooms and they are excellent.

Our stay at Green Gables was simply lovely. It's a beautiful place with no detail unmissed from robes in the bedroom to the local produce for breakfast including eggs from the chickens running about the place.

Beate's cakes that she serves for afternoon tea are mouthwateringly good and she is a friendly and attentive host. We stayed in the Waterview room and the bath was a very welcome luxury. I'm confident we'll be back.
