“Enchanting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We were there September 2013, what an amazing place. Your cabin is surrounded by bush land. You feel like you are in the middle of now where. We had the spa cabin and enjoyed having a spa and just looking out into the wilderness. In the mornings we had the local wildlife coming to visit us to say hello. Would return to the Wilderness Village again.

We stayed three nights while we did lots of hiking in the national park. What a beautiful little lodge to come back to each night, snuggle into the warmth and cook simple dinners. Effective heating, comfy beds, nice spa, clean. What else could you want? Felt so private, like being in your own little forest. Lots of wallabies - weren't lucky enough to see a possum but next time maybe! When we left, we stupidly left a backpack containing wallets, ipads etc and it wasn't long before we got a phone call. Fortunately we hadn't driven too far. So, thanks guys.

Room Tip: Go the deluxe chalet!

Self contained cabins with full kitchen facilities... we stayed for two nights while doing hiking around the lake. Very clean and comfortable. Cabins are located in the forest (and you get to see possums in the garden areas as well as wallabies) Our cabin had a separate room witha bunk beds which our daughter loved.
Recommended.

We booked a Self Contained Studio Cottage for the October long weekend, advising we would be arriving very late on the Friday night. Our key was left out for us, a light was on over the door and the heating had been turned on. The cottage was scrupulously clean and tidy, with all the basic amenities required for preparing simple meals. The heated towel rail in the bathroom was very welcome, and when we checked in officially the next morning, the staff were friendly and welcoming. As we had come mainly to hike in the stunning Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, we didn't spend much time in the cabin, but were impressed by the location in the beautiful bush setting. Each cabin stands alone, so the feeling of seclusion and peace is wonderful. The lounge with log fire, view of Cradle Mountain and honesty bar (with very reasonable prices) was great to relax in at the end of a day's hiking, and will be further enhanced when the restaurant is completed later this year. Until then, there are a couple of restaurants close by (see my separate review for The Grey Gum restaurant)

My husband and I stayed at The Cradle Mountain Wildnerness Village Spa Suite Cabin. It was really clean, brand new and nice. There was a gas fire heater, electric heating as well as electric blankets (plus heated towel racks), so you will always be nice and warm, even in winter. The highlight was the large 2 person spa bath, which was facing the forest outside with a view of the mountain. There was even kitchen facilities to cook if you wanted to. It was close to the Information centre, restaurants nearby and the shuttle buses that go to cradle mountain. Would definitely return- get the spa suite, worth every penny!

Room Tip: Go for the spa suite- 2 person spa is worth the cost!

Booked the two bedroom Spa Chalet for two nights. Was disappointed to find the Spa did not have a view of the outside as expected but was instead in the bathroom. Apparently the spas with a view are only in the one bedroom chalet.
Spa itself was also a bit disappointing - jets were not very powerful.
The rest of the Chalet was of good design and quality. Our kitchenette did not include a dishwasher as some other reviewers have reported.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay, but given the cost, I don't think we'd stay again. If this is an example of the value to be had staying in the Cradle Valley, it might be best to stay elsewhere and drive in.

Have stayed here twice, both in the spa rooms and everything has always been fantastic. The service, the rooms, the quality. It will be good when the restaurant is finished being completed but the lodge is great for meals anyway and not too far away.

Room Tip: Love the spa rooms, definitely recommend them.
