“Wildlife on your doorstep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013 via mobile

When we arrived at our cabin, we went out on the deck, and there were wallabies grazing right there! Also had a visit from a pushy possum (make sure you close your door).

Cabin was great - had everything you need, clean, fairly high standard.

The Cradle Mountain area is amazing - great walking, swimming in Dove lake, great wildlife - we saw platypus, wombats, wallabies, pademelons and possums. Meals in the lodge are good too.

basic but comfortable rustic style cabin nestled in the bush -Close to the entrance of Cradle National Park and close to a couple of restaurants as there is no place to eat or buy food so if you dont want to cook head to either the lodge or cafe.Beds were very comfortable.

Room Tip: we stayed in the cheapest cabins and there was no bath just a shower which had a shower saver so not...

This self-contained cabin would be great for those who wish to stay for several days and save money by preparing meals. The cabin had no oven, but the stovetop burners and microwave pretty much made up for that.
However, there were no directions for using the electric fireplace nor spa tub; this seems rather unsafe if guests are not familiar with these. The front desk gentleman was pretty much unavailable.
Otherwise, the cabin was very comfortable.
Apparently there is a guest bar or lounge, but again the front desk guy just kind of waved his arm in some direction while telling us (incorrectly, I might add) where liquor could be purchased.

CM Village offers only self contained huts. Each is sympathetically positioned within the surrounding bush land. we stayed in one of the newer huts with a spa which had only been opened 2 months prior. The room was extremely comfortable with a hotel quality bed and linen, large bathroom with shower, kitchenette with double stove top and microwave and, of course, the spa. After a long days walk it was nice to relax with bubbles whilst staring into the bush. The only downside of the huts are the balconies, they are on the slightly small side but there had to be a compromise made somewhere in the design.

Don't be put off by the slightly brown water from the taps. Apparently is it perfectly safe to drink and certainly ok to bath in.

There is no onsite restaurant so you will need to either bring your own supplies, visit the small supply shop or eat at one of the restaurants / cafes linked to the other hotels. Off from the reception is a guest lounge area with a bar, fire place and Internet facilities.

Cradle Mountain was the last stop on our Tasmanian holiday and the CM village was a lovely way to end it.

Room Tip: We had cabin 40

We spent 2 nights in a Premium Spa Cottage and had a fantastic experience. Great location close to the visitors centre and the entry to the National Park. Reception staff were lovely and friendly. The room was very tastefully and thoughtfully designed and furnished and all facilities were squeaky clean. There was everything we needed to prepare our own meals which is very handy as there are limited options for dining out in the local area. We spent the days walking the amazing trails and the spa was heavenly after a big day out, as was the incredibly comfortable bed which made for a cozy, warm nights' sleep. The wildlife is abundant - we had pademelons grazing at our front steps and almost had to share our bed with a possum after accidentally leaving the balcony door open! All in all a fantastic place to stay that topped off our visit to the incredible Cradle Mountain National Park.

We were happy with our studio unit. We were a couple but there was also a bunk room for 2 children. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed. Only problem...the toilet was a little wobbly. We had no towels when we arrived but this was quickly rectified with many apologies from the receptionist. We loved the honesty bar...it was great to sit in the guest lounge & view Cradle Mountain in the late afternoon

First impression when we opened the door was a strong chemical smell. It must've been what was used to clean the carpets. We opened all windows and went out. When we returned it had eased but was still there. Bed was comfy, two couches were great. And the kitchen had all we needed. The water concerned us. It was brown. We asked reception if it is OK to drink (as there are recycled water warning signs down the road at the visitor centre). We were told it is fine to drink but still didn't feel comfortable doing so. The honesty system at the common room bar was good. Take what you want and fill out the form. In general, it's probably overpriced but you're paying for the location and the rooms are much nicer than any caravan park cabins.
