“Wilderness at your feet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2009

We loved every bit of it, The fireplace in the room and the wombats and wallabies everywhere were the highlights.
We stayed for 1 night and will go back when it snows. The room was lovely and clean, although the bathroom is completely outdated.
We did the cheese and wine tasting and absolutely loved it. We didn't try the restaurant but only the pub, it was fantastic.
Breakfast was busy and only the coffee was not great. a self serve espresso machine is what is needed instead of percolated coffee.
We did all the board walks which were enjoyable and beautiful.
Can't wait to go back!

The Lodges are located on the edge of the National Park. It is ideally located in the middle of all the action. The most amazing walks, waterfalls and animals are all accessible from track leading from the Lodge.
The problem with the Lodge is the lack of facilities and comforts. Namely there is no mobile phone reception, no TV and the restaurant.

Booked the pencil pine cabin for a night, breakfast included. Everything is great except the bathroom is a bit small. Highly recommend people dining at The Highland Restaurant!

Booked a King Billy suite for husband's 40th. Suite was great - double fireplace, hot tub, bathroom the size of a small nation and a very comfy bed. You are obviously paying for location and it's certainly superb with wildlife everywhere. However at $530 for one night before any extras this certainly isn't a cheap option and the hotel has less amentities than many others in it's class (no room service for example). Don't get me wrong - it's a great place but a high cost does raise expectations - regardless of locale.

Fantastic location to explore the Cradle Mountain National Park. Avoids you potentially being stranded if weather deteriorates suddenly, which can happen. Have a choice to either catch the shuttle bus to take you into the park or a short drive into the park, recommend the shuttle bus, roads into the park are quite narrow and you may have to dodge native wildlife jump in from of you. The lodge surrounds also cater for short walking trails, if you don't want to venture too far and just want to take it easy and relax. The lodge also offers guided walks which I recommend you explore, especially if you're keen to venture Marion's Peak!

We were upgraded to the spa suite which was "heaven sent" after hiking all day. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Don't expect TV or radio, the lodge forces you to seperate yourself from the every day pressures of life, recommend you take a good book to read. A refreshing change.

Due to isolation of the lodge, they provide a good range of food options to cater for everyone's budget, from the Bistro to Resturant. We were pleasantly surprised with the Resturant and the quality of food and ended up eating there both nights of our stay and reasonably priced. There is also a general store that offers sandwiches and drinks.

Overall we had a wonderful and pleasant time at the lodge and were fortunate enough to experience some wonderful weather.

We had one night at cradle mountain lodge at the end of our Tassie trip. We arrived at around 1pm in the afternoon and it had just started snowing. The lodge was great. We got a great deal on a spa suite on Wotif and felt the room was well priced but would not have wanted to pay full price.

The room was contemporary and neat. The fire was lit when we arrived which was really nice.
We immediately went to the spa and had a massage and i had a swim in the pool which was GORGEOUS! Looking over the valley at the snow coming down and a little paddy melon hopped past me.
We ate in the restaurant that night which was probably the only let down. The restaurant and bar areas are very dated and are crying out for a reno, apparently voyages have sold so hopefully the new owners will attend to this. The food was nice but definitely overpriced but i suppose they can get away with it due to the limited eating establishments. The service was good though.

We slept beautifully with the fire on and woke to a balcony covered in snow. The cabin was really quiet and private.

We will definitely go back on another wot if deal.

Our spa cabin was nothing special - nice fireplace but boring décor and worn, dirty upholstery. Bathroom very plain and with crazy heating system. No view whatsoever but many animals roaming around the property made it fun. Overall the lodge is quite nice and the setting in the park is lovely. Just the accommodation is not what you would expect for the price (very high rates at easter). having said this, none of the other properties we saw in the area seemed any better.
