“Fantastic location, Extremely quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2010

I don't normally write reviews, however this apartment was excellent. I had read the 12 reviews previously and then booked three nights. The next day I read the last review dated Feb 2 2010 which concerned me. I shouldn't have worried - The room was wonderfull, two balconies (morning sun on one, afternoon sun on the other), a fantastic two person spa, basic kitchen facilities with tea and coffee, king size bed of excellent quality (my wife slept all night which she can never do at home). While there for three days we noticed around a dozen cars at the different rooms - but we thought no one else was there - it was so quiet. You could not hear the cars or people coming and going. We discovered that we had a "neighbour" when we left - but we just did not know beforehand.

The property is around 200 metres from the start of the Wentworth Falls walks and only 1.5 kms from the local shopping centre.

If you want a place to get away for some peace and quiet but still be within reach of restaurants/cafes this is it.

I cannot understand the last review - its just not warranted.

My husband and I stayed at Falls Mountain for about a week in late December, 2009, and were extremely pleased with the experience; as very seasoned travelers who've had a lot of both good and bad experiences, we would highly recommend Falls Mountain to anyone.

The first thing to note is that I looked up the hotel on the Internet and got some prices, but when I called personally, they made me a much better deal. I would advise anyone to call them directly.

When we arrived we received extremely professional and friendly treatment at the desk, and were even advised about things to see in the area and provided with maps and instructions. The rooms were great - we stayed in a loft on the second floor, which had great space, a comfortable bed, and a superb bathtub. We are real bathtub aficionados, and these tubs receive our highest praise.

The next day we walked out the door and hiked the National Pass, perhaps the single most beautiful and awe-inspiring hike in the whole region. We didn't realize it at the time, but we were literally staying steps away from one of the most beautiful spots in the Blue Mountains. It is hard to describe how breathtaking this hike is, but if you can handle about 3 hours and some pretty tough uphill climbs, your effort will be rewarded beyond measure.

Falls Mountain is also very close to everything else you'd want to see in the Blue Mountains - Katoomba, Leura, the Three Sisters, etc. We also drove out to Jenolan Caves (claustrophobics: be warned), which was about an hour or so away. Falls Mountain turned out to be just a great base camp for the rest of the region.

Now, some quick advice. This is not a full-service hotel; you are kind of on your own in terms of food. The shopping in Katoomba is okay (though the Coles is fine, it's a little scrappy and down-at-the-mouth looking) to fulfill any food needs you might have, and there are other little grocery outlets in the towns (including in Wentworth Falls). Just know that you need to bring your own comestibles. The lofts are nice because they're on the second floor, but they only have a kitchenette (this is not a problem, depending on what you want to cook). The first floor apartments have more kitchen, and I'm sure are also very nice.

They do have high-speed Internet, but you have to pay a small amount for access. The fee is pretty nominal, though, and the service is good. Well worth the few bucks it costs (and we have yet to find a place in Australia that offers it free in any case).

Also, if you want a good restaurant experience, we would highly recommend Seven in Wentworth Falls. It's just down the road (you could even walk there if you wanted). Its modest storefront belies their excellent food and very friendly service. There are lots of swish and expensive restaurant options in the Blue Mountains, including at the Lilianfels, but our experience at Seven actually topped them all.

You will not regret staying at Falls Mountain. A great experience across the board.

The staff, and peaceful location, were what made the place for us. The couple who have this family run business went out of their way to show us a great time, and catered to all our needs. Being a gay couple in a new city, in rural Oz, we had some doubts, but these evaporated instantly on arrival, and made our stay there four out of four stars.
The only drawback is how the spa/shower is arranged. It is uniquely uncomfortable no matter what size you are -and we are both small, and tall, in our family- there is simply no place to bathe, or shower, that works properly. This, and finding human hair in the silverware drawer, made me give it a less than perfect cleanliness rating.
Otherwise, the rooms were gorgeous, the views perfect, the people lovely, and the surrounding town and countryside absolutely breath-takingly beautiful.

After travelling extensively around the East coast we treated ourselves to 2 days in the Blue Mountains and chose the Falls Mountain Retreat based on the glowing reviews found on tripadvisor. We were not dissapointed. The drive from Sydney was shorter than expected and we arrived around 1pm. As checkin was not until 3pm the staff at reception took my mobile number and recommended the "Blue Mist" Cafe in Wentworth Falls for lunch. (Fantastic meal but that's another story) We were contacted shortly after eating letting us know the room was ready.

As we had 2 adults and 2 children we booked the loft and downstairs apartments with an adjoining door. The gas fires were lit and reverse cycle aircon ensured that we were warm inside while it was cold out. Upstairs was a large "parents retreat" which included a hydrotherapy spa and a sitting area for reading books or chilling out. Downstairs the kids had 2 single beds and a laundry with washer and dryer, a dining table and living area.

The rooms were roomy, modern, spotless and well appointed. The kitchen was decked out with new Fisher & Paykel appliances and all the plates, glasses, cuttlery you would need. All in all it was a great stay and if I had took pick a fault the TV reception was a little hazy but certainly watchable. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

We stayed one night in a Studio Loft Apartment at the Falls Mountain Retreat as we though it looked nice on their website. We were not dissapointed - it was fantastic.

It is in a great location, just a short walk from Wentworth Falls and is easy to find. We were able to check in early and recieved a truly warm welcome - very friendly and gave us some great recommendations for places to eat.

The accommodation itself was immaculate and superbly designed. They had thought of every little detail - a nightlight in the bathroom so you didn't have to blind yourself in the night, a well equipped kitchenette, a MP3 compatible stereo.

We loved the whirlpool bath big enough for two and the facts that there was two balconies at each end of the property so that you could sit in the sun whatever time of day it was.

It was one of the few places that actually lived up to the pictues and the claims on their website.

  • Liked — design, great attention to detail, whirlpool spa bath
  • Disliked — nothing

A great place to stay in the Blue Mountains - we had an apartment for the four of us - adults downstairs and kids upstairs - it was clean, modern and voted by the two teenagers as the best apartment ever. They now want to re-do our house at home to be like the apartment. The facilities were great, including a dishwasher and a big enough kitchen to cook in - although we only manged to cook breakfast - there are more than enough restaurants in the blue mountains to eat in. The two spa baths were wonderful and very relaxing.
The location was great as well - very quiet and far enough away from all the other tourists, but a very short 5 min drive to the beautiful Wentworth Falls and 15mins from the other main attractions.
The reception staff were very helpful, staying open late for us - we got our flight timings slightly wrong - and changing the double bed to two twin beds for the kids straight away. We booked the apartment directly using their website and that was problem free as well. I would recomend the apartments to anyone who likes very good quality accomodation a little away from everyone else.

We had a great stay. The rooms have plenty of space, great amenities, and the spa's a nice and big. Location is close to all of the attractions of the Blue Mountains, and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Excellent.
