“Pity about the Shower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2010

We decided to take the Fletcher Street 2 bedroom cottage about 200 meters from the main Moments B & B. On arrival we were very impressed with the old world charm of the cottage being just as we wanted in the mountains.
The lovely lounge and open fire place made us hurry back from our mountain walks. Central heating was great and the cottage was very spacious with a sunny veradah.
Only criticisms were the kitchen needs renovation, shower curtains should be fitted to the two spa baths to save fooding the bathrooms and beds were not that comfortable.
Breakfast is not included in your stay in the cottage but we were told we could walk a short distance to the Concervation Cafe. However this cafe was closed and appeared to only open for morning & afternoon tea and lunch.
Next time I think we will stay in the B & B accommodation in the Moments main building which looked great.

Extreamly dissapointing!
The View road cottage is cold, mouldy, dirty, and un-inviting to romantic couples.Every cottage in the Beautiful Blue Mountains we stayed at provided fresh milk, sample chocolates, cereal, bread or toast and other suprise treats and a clean warm romantic environment and local brochures to be used un-like View road.
Even the back yard and decking to look at the view was dirty and also un-safe. The decking to meet Australian safety standard needs to have hand-railing around it. The outside spotlight fills with water when it rains as the roof sheets have no gutter attached. The only So called WOW as stated on the website would be WOW how Dirty the place is and WOW the small TV and free stained couches and cushions and cupboards and kitchen floor.
It may pass as a 2.5 star Backpacker accomodation worth about $90p/n but thats it!!!

We were notified that we had left a pair of glasses there and arranged to pick them up at the main Moments house in which we wish we had of booked instead as it was Beautiful.

RobandRita, Owner at moments Mountain Retreat, responded to this review, November 3, 2010
The team at Moments Accommodation strive to achieve a consistent high standard of accommodation and level of service.
We receive feedback and reviews of commendation confirming our high standard. We also receive feedback from guests bringing things to our attention that were not ‘OK’ at the time of their stay, which has assisted us in maintaining our high standard. We value direct communication if our standards are ever compromised as this enables us to rectify problems immediately.
Unfortunately we did not receive direct feedback from ‘Patto69’ during their stay, or when they returned to pick up the glasses they had left behind. In fact they commented positively about their stay. If we had been informed that our standards had been compromised we would have taken immediate action to address the problems.
Moments has since communicated with ‘Patto69’ to acknowledge and discuss the issues raised in the above review and to offer our apology.
Further to this, we have made contact with other guests who stayed at the same property during July/August 2010 to ascertain if they had experienced any problems and we specifically asked them about the cleanliness of the property. July is the busiest month for tourism in the Blue Mountains and we wanted to ascertain whether our standards had been compromised at other times during this busy period. A summary of all ‘uncensored’ responses follows:
•Guest response 1: reported that they had no problems and had a very enjoyable stay. They said the apartment was fantastic, very comfortable and of a good standard. They also said that from what they could remember it was clean and stocked with all the necessities and also included a small carton of milk for their next morning coffee. They mentioned that their partner is very fussy regarding cleaning and that she would have definitely noticed if anything was out of order. They were also pleasantly surprised by some of the little touches such as the heaters being on so that it was warm for their arrival.
•Guest response 2: said they were very impressed with the comfortable and spotless property. They said they enjoyed their brief stay and that they even recommended the house with its ample space to friends. They told us that if the opportunity should arise, they would be keen to request a stay in the same property. They mentioned that the views are incredible from the rear and in their opinion the house has really been planned well to span a wide expanse of the Blue Mountains. They said that lots of lovely ‘Moments' were enjoyed and thanked us.
•Guest response 3: told us they had a great time at our property and that everything was nicely set, and the property itself was just beautiful. Many of their company said they will definitely go back there with their family or friends. They pointed out one thing that was not OK which was that the BBQ was a bit messy and greasy but they stressed that everything else was perfect. They thanked us for the good time they had at our place.
•Guest response 4: let us know that they really enjoyed their stay and had no complaints!
•Guest response 5: informed us that they and their friends absolutely loved our property in View Rd and had only one suggestion which was to trim the trees out the back for a bit of a better view – they said that they all felt like they were at home. They thanked us and told us they will be sure to be back soon.
•Guest response 6: told us that they had a great stay at the location they stayed at. They said it was very clean, very professional and had a great view as well and thanked us for all of our efforts.
•Guest response 7: wanted us to know that the property was fine and everything was to a good standard except for the tiles in the kitchen/dining room. They found them to be sticky under their feet especially in the kitchen. They told us that they cleaned the floors again on the day of their arrival and it lessened the stickiness but however it was still sticky. They thought maybe a new mop would be suitable and that other than that it was great.

In relation to other issues raised by ‘Patto69’:
•We are not sure why the house was described as ‘cold’ - there are 2 gas heaters and a large reverse cycle air-conditioner in the living areas, as well as small electric blow heaters in every bedroom.
•There was a small TV in place at the time of ‘Patto69’s visit due to the large TV having malfunctioned suddenly (it was sitting in the garage) – Moments is currently upgrading all IT to flat screen wall-mounted TVs and could not arrange this at short notice. We take on board we should have personally explained the situation.
•We advise that the back deck does meet Australian Safety Standards. The actual measurement from the deck to the ground below the deck is within the guidelines and does not require a railing.

Please note: Moments continues to provide and encourage direct feedback opportunities for guests by displaying prominent phone details in each property for immediate or urgent contact, as well as providing a feedback form for guests to complete at the end of their stay.

We apologise again to ‘Patto69’.

We booked this B & B over the internet and chose a cottage for a 3 night stay as a base for walking/sighseeing. On arrival at the main 'Moments' guest house we were warmly welcomed by Bev the manager and our conversation led to us looking at one of the 3 rooms in the main house. The room was exactly what we wanted with a verrandah overlooking the mountain ridge. We did go and look at the cottage, which was very nice being detached with a secluded garden, but the view from the main house had won us over. On checking in a glass of champagne was waiting for us on the verrandah.

The guest house caters for couples only and our room was ample size for us with a very comfortable bed, DVD/TV/Radio etc and had Tea/Coffee with a small fridge which was stocked with milk/orange etc etc. Staying in the main house meant that the fridge was stocked each day with breakfast items and you could also help yourself to cereals, yoghurts, fruit and more from the communual lounge. This is where the toaster & microwave were kept. With only 3 rooms (of 2 people max) it was not busy. In fact we were the only people there for 2 nights. There was also free Port & Sherry to help yourself to if you wanted. The ensuite bathroom had a great shower with a large spa bath which was most welcome after a days walking.

The house is situated about a 2 minute walk from 'The Conservation Hut' where you could get a meal and from where various mountain trails began. It could not have been better for us. Bev was very helpful with local information and the service was second to none.

We will certainly return next time we visit the area. This was a small slice of luxury in the mountains.

We got a great deal for the Vera Spa Suite for $149/ nite for a 3 nights promotion. There was only one other couple at the place for the first day, afterwhich we had the whole place to oiurselves. The Vera Room boast the BEST view in the house and it is indeed true! The view across the room into the verandah and straight into the mountain was breath-taking. The place is so peaceful and quiet, I find myself whispering, for fear of disrupting the tranquility.

The spa is what we in Singapore know as a jacuzzi. The hot water system amazed me. Being someone from the tropics, unused to the winter, so please pardon me, if I sound like a country-pumpkin. :) The hot water is digitally controlled, so you just have to adjust the temperature of the hotwater (say 40 degrees) and turn on the hot water tap. No need to toggle between the cold and hot water tap, so no sudden burst of cold and hot! Heaven sent! There's also a heater spotlight shining into the bathing area, hence warming up the area when you step out of the shower, no fear of chills! The fireplace is right opposite the spa. You have to pay $30 for firewood to create a really romantic ambience as you enjoy your water jets. We did without it, but you could go out into the common living room if you really wanna enjoy a fireplace for free. On the bed, is another heaven sent -- electric blanket! Controlled on each side, you and your partner can adjust the heat to their individual desire.

The TV though small, is fully equipped with a VHS player, DVD player and Austar Cable with 3 movies channel. VHS and DVD is available for free to borrow from the common library. Breakfast is 2 pieces of multi-grain bread, 2 pieces of raisin bread, 2 muffins, all you can eat cereals, cartons of fresh milk, orange juice, butter, peanut butter, jams, vegemite, macadamia cookies, finely grind coffee, instant hot chocolate mix, stocked up daily in the mini pantry in your room. If they are not adequate, we could still help ourselves as they are stocked in the living room. Every morning, I bring my cold bread and muffin to the living room to be toasted and heated up in the common microwave. Go back to my room, make my coffee and hot chocolate, bring them out to the verandah and enjoy the peace and mountain view right there. Nothing beats this, i tell you!

The spa suites does share a common verandah area, only to be separate by potted plants. But since we were the only occupants, it didn't bother us. Next door was another B&B, The Valley of the Waters. They do have a room on the second floor which probably offers a much better view than Moments, but then it's much pricier too. The room may not be huge, however the open concept makes it more than adequate. Definitely bigger than the Four Seasons in Sydney that we had later. I have totally no complains.

Moments at Wentworth is just 2 doors away from the famous Conservatory Hut, where you can have your hot cooked meals. It is also a short drive from the Wentworth Falls lookouts, where we had many easy walks. It's just a 5 minutes drive away Leura and Katoomba, which I feel is much more tourisy. Wentworth Falls have a couple of good eateries, Seven was great for pastas (only about $13 for a entree pasta which was good enough for me) and Canton Palace for passable Asian food.

All in all, this is the home away from home. We will definitely be back if we even come to Blue Mountain again!!!!

We stayed at the rental accommodation which was a 2 bedroomed house/bungalow for just 2 nights. The accommodation was excellent and the spa baths and log fire were just the ticket for helping with the special stay in our last nights in Australia. The only down side was that 2 nights was not enough!
Everything was carefully thaought out by the owners and we called to the B&B to use the internet, which was no bother at all - in fact nothing was any trouble. We had a look around the B&B accommodation while we were there and it was so beautiful with the most outstanding views. We would highly recommend either properties to stay in, and we will most certainly return.

We booked on line to stay at Moments in Wentworthworth Falls in the beautiful Blue Mountains. The weather was glorious and our wonderful hosts upgraded our room to a small suite with magic views of the National Park.
Moments is on a quiet lane, has a lovely and refined ambience to it and all the furnishings and fittings were to a high standard.
The house itself is beautifully decorated and once settled in the hosts leave you alone to enjoy the place.
A highlight for us was the open fire in the lounge area, listening to classical music, dipping strawberries, kiwi fruit and banana into lindt chocolate - truly decadent - and no one else around.
Good breakfast provisions included fruit are provided.
A really lovely stay - we only wish we could have stayed longer.

To begin with the location couldn't have been better, literally a two minute walk to Echo Point and Three Sisters. And being in Katoomba, it was a great central starting point for exploring the Blue Mountains. We did an easy day trip to Jenolan Caves one day, and Wentworth Falls another.

Our family of five stayed at Moments' Echo Point house for two nights. It was perfect for us. With two bedrooms and a dayroom the sleeping arrangements worked for us. The key was under the mat for us (even though we arrived a little early), and a welcome letter was on the counter. There were even 'continental breakfast' makings provided for us in the kitchen. (My only, minor minor comment is that we could have used one more lounge chair in the living room.)

With five of us, having a whole house to relax in gave us plenty of room to spread out and enjoy. The entire house interior looked like it had been recently painted. Every room was spotlessly clean. (It made me want to leave it in as good condition as when we arrived.) There was even a gas grill at our disposal!

Even though it was June (winter), the heaters worked very well and we were always comfortable. We did not use the fireplace, although firewood was provided for our use. We all slept well every night.

I gladly recommend this house rental to anyone!
