“Excellent Steak and Great Rooms1”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We went for a Valentines night away, and we couldn't have asked for more. Really quaint, good value for the high end produce, and two great rooms upstairs. Again, great value. The breakfast in the morning was one of the best i've had in a B&B.

“The place to go”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

This is one of our special treat places, we go out on the motorbike and enjoy lunch. It's always busy and you should book having said that they always squeeze us in. Absolutely brilliant atmosphere, great beer and the food is what a pub should produce. This is not boil in the bag, everything is fresh and interesting. It's a romantic event for us. Do give this a go, parking is just up the lane beyond the pub.

“Hidden Horseguards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

This idyllic pub is tucked away at the back of Petworth and yet just moments away from the main road.

It is the perfect modern take on a traditional pub - welcoming atmosphere and staff, eclectic and tasteful decor, interesting and delicious food and drink. A lot of love has been put into making this a happy place.

I didn't stay, but if the rooms reflect the rest of the property, it has to be great.

“Great food and beautiful garden”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We recently had a lovely long lunch at The Horse Guards Inn in their wonderfuly quirky garden. The staff were extremely friendly and the place had such a welcoming atmosphere. The menu changes seasonally and there was a fantastic choice, especially for my friend who is a vegetarian. Starters were all delicious and the homemade bread was amazing. Two of our party had the bbq brisket and were slightly dissapointed with it, it was tasty but not as amazing as they'd hoped. I had the loin of pork with potato and haggis gratin which was delicious and a great idea to jazz up a normal gratin. We all had puddings and the strawberry pavlova really hit the spot on a nice sunny afternoon, and i heard the chocolate and almond terrine was delicious. Overall a wonderful afternoon out, the garden was well set up for children with the hamock and tree to climb, is also enclosed so very safe. Looking forward to coming back in the winter to try a new menu and spend a cosy afternoon inside by the fire.

“Lovely place to stop and eat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Having had an awful journey out Sunday morning, we decided to come back cross country.

Driving through West Sussex, my husband had checked out The Hourse Guards Inn in a little village called Tillington.

The welcome was warm, having not previously booked, we were warmely received and told that luckily there was a table free (normally unheard of at weekends).

We ordered a drink and sat at our table. We had bread and dips to start, which were delicious. Chunky white and brown bread, with a houmous type dip, parsley dip and olive oil.

My husband ordered the slow cooked belly of pork and I had lamb shoulder. Both were presented beautifully and the taste was divine! We declined a dessert as we were both content with what we had eaten.

We would definitely visit again!
