I stayed here for a night with my Husband for our first anniversary and it was exactly what we hoped for. Our room was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. The pub/restaurant was superb and the real ale was perfect. Rates were reasonable too, the double room was £95, the pints were £3.40 and our food came to about £30 including starters. There is a lovely open fire which we ate our meals and breakfast next to. Petsworth itself is a lovely historic market town, the only downside is that there is only one other pub in the centre of Petsworth, which is awful! (The Star). If you wish a quiet night away in a beautiful old building in a lovely settling with suberb food, beer and staff then go to the Angel Inn in Petsworth.

I stayed here for one night but wish it had been longer. It is a very well run small pub restaurant with rooms. So many places get the pub with rooms formula wrong (eg pub too loud when trying to sleep etc) but the angel gets it right. The decor is very sympathetic to the building, but the rooms are still highly finished. I had a four poster bed in a room with beamed ceiling and large bay window with window seat, and modern bright bathroom with huge bath. Had flat screen tv, plenty of hot drink choices and biscuits. Decent shampoo and lotion too.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Had dinner and breakfast and both excellent, very high quality and good value.

I would reccomnend the Angel and certainly stay there again.

This is a fabulous funky pub - that seems to be the wrong word - but it has a certain 'je ne sais quoi' feel to this place. It has been beautiful done up/restored with out being too trendy. The atmosphere is calm and the staff really friendly. Prop the bar up, sit at a table or enjoy the garden whatever you do - go and enjoy!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights ate one evening as eating with friends the second night which meant missing the spit roast over open fire on Friday night that looked amazing. The rooms where a pleasure to come back to each morning, afternoon and evening after biking or watching our son play rugby whilst on tour locally. All the staff were excellent especially our breakfast lady on Friday morning (I hope her weekend went well with the lifeguards!!!) We enjoyed an excellent evening meal with no pressure to order or finish our evening whilst we chatted and made plans for the next day, even using the Hotels computer to plan a new cycle route. Arriving back after our muddy ride Mark even provided a hose pipe to wash down bikes. As the heading says Nothing but nothing was too much trouble. Will stay again when "down south".

Room Tip: We looked at 3 all fab, it is on the road side but NOT noisy at night and not that noisy in the morn...

We went away for a week and stayed here, and would do it again. Infact we have booked to return, this time with friends for a long weekend in December 2012. The staff are attentive helpful and very pleasant and absolutley nothing about the food disappointed us, make sure you try things from the daily specials board. Our room was everything we expected it to be. Quaint, cosy touches with a very modern bathroom, and yes, even the slightly sloping floors adds to the feeling of the past catching up with the present. Ideal for a quiet time away if you want some peace and quiet along with an elegant setting and lovely local crowd. Car park directly outside this wonderful Inn and rolling coutryside at one turn and the delights of Petworth the other. Carol and Mark played host and they are a delight to talk to. Any time you are passing, or are near, really we suggest you call in for a bite to eat.

The reviews speak for themselves and we were not disappointed. It's such a pretty and welcoming pub/restaurant, from the moment you step through the door. If I lived in Petworth this would be my local watering hole and my lazy sunday lunchspot! The only shame about our stay was we were only there for 1 night for a wedding. The rooms have the perfect mix of new and traditional. I loved the 4 poster bed and the low beams, such character. The bathroom looked brand new and was so tastefully decorated in keeping with the rest of the room.

We had a quick lunch before we headed to the event and it was a gourmet feast with crab cakes (with actual fresh crab inside!) and a seafood and chorizo linguine (to die for!) and a small green salad ( with celery, beans, grapes, apple). Breakfast was wonderful too and the staff were helpful and accommodating throughout. They make a real effort to remember your names so whilst this was our first visit they made us feel like 'regulars'! As we checked out we saw the spit roast being prepared for lunch making us wish we didnt have to get back home. I guess we will save that treat for our next stay!!

Room Tip: Room 2 was light and airy with plenty of space and storage.

We visited for a second time early in August this year almost exactly a year after our first visit and shortly after the Inn had been so beautifully refurbished and re-opened. The food was excellent. The ales were great - from the pump or cask - that's nice. Friendly atmosphere. Hosts Carol and Murray; what a lovely warm couple. Next years visit planned, for a weekend B&B.
