“Hardly any sleep”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

I arrived to find that the curtains would not close properly, I had to do a bit of DIY as I knew they wouldn't have the staff to fix it on a Saturday afternoon. The toilet was dirty, the temperature of the shower constantly changed and the windows were so poor the noise from the outside dual carriageway did not allow me to have a lie in!

Room Tip: It is impossible to select a room with these type of hotels but request a room at the back and you m...

Visiting this regularly as my mum is in a local care home. Its just off main road adjacent to petrol station. Good basic accommodation, Very helpful staff. They do sell 'add water' porridge and some other bits for breakfast plus pizzas but we take our own. Several local businesses provide home delivery service so will try this next time, also a Burger King next door. Some rooms have 'blown' double glazing so take ear plugs just in case if you are a light sleeper.

Room Tip: Rooms at front face the sun so great for sun lovers but may get quite hot in the summer

We've stayed in many travelodges over the years, and you can't really expect much for £19 a night, but this one has had its day and is in need of a major refurbishment. The first room we were in had a leak in the bathroom, they happily swapped rooms for us, but the new room stank of cigarettes and did not have a remote for the TV. Also the kettle was very small and was effectively a one cup kettle. The decoration was tired and not very inviting.

It's situated right next to a petrol station and Burger King restaurant. This meant that on Friday night we had the joy of listening to the boy racers using the car park as a meeting point. I learnt some new swear words!!

Room Tip: Late evening noise from adjoining petrol station and Burger King restaurant.

Hotel room smells of damp and damp on walls and around window frames with mould and green stuff, inside of windows look like never been cleaned, there is a filing station next to it and also a burger king and the hotel is in a good location, would be nice if a good clean was done

Could do with soundproofing to the windows and between the floors. Sounded like elephants above all the time. Reception staff were very polite though. Glass in all the windows had condensates so you could not look out them.

Had stayed the previous night in a Premier Inn which really made the Travelodge look like a poor relation. I knew what to expect though having stayed there on a previous visit to Littlehampton. We book a family room which is quite spacious and the sofa in the room allows you to relax in some comfort as we stay for three nights.
We didn't like the room we were allotted at first as we could hear road noise but the staff willingly changed the room to one at the back of the hotel. The friendly staff are one of the best things about the hotel and they are always very obliging and helpful.
On our last visit we only paid 29pounds each night but this time it was quite a bit more and we paid almost double that only to find that if we had booked a couple of weeks later the rate had again dropped down somewhat.

Firstly our experience of the staff was that they were extremely polite and helpful.
That said the property is looking very tired. If you expect 3* + then go elsewhere, but the place was clean and extremely convenient.
You can travel from the door on the Coastline 700 service to Portsmouth and Brighton (and beyond with a change). Free for those with bus passes.
Shell filling station on site with well stocked shop.

Room Tip: Don't take a room at the rear. Burger King bins are emptied at 4.00am every other day and the lo...
