“Huge gardensp”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Despite the popularity of Wakehurst it is easy to go off piste and have a perfectly private walk in the woods. Glorious autumnal colours and gorgeous shrubs, paths and lakes.

“Poor advertising makes for a bad day out”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Having been to several National Trust venues with our New Zealand Trust Cards as we have reciprocal acceptance throughout the world (except Eire) We thought it would be a pleasant day to spend at Wakehurst.
We followed several National Trust direction signs to Wakehurst, arrived and parked the car following several other people to the entrance. The waved their British National Trust cards and were let through the entrance gates.
I proffered my NZ Card and the extremely high brow (read snooty) person on duty advised us "Oh n o we do not accept foreign card members here It is only then land which belongs to the National Trust so you can pay the £13.70 per person if you wish to enter."
Obviously both the cost and her attitude put us off so we left.
If it is National Trust we should have been permitted to enter If it is not then they should change their signage.
A very disappointing day and a wasted journey So we continued on to enjoy the warmth and welcome at another National Trust property nearby.

“Beautiful Walks and Tasty Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

An amazing place for an afternoon stroll after lunch in their cafe/restaurant. The water streams and lakes are incredible, you can while away the hours in the summer and walk off the cobwebs in the colder seasons, its just well worth it.

“Beautiful in spring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Visited here in spring to see the bluebells on a woodland walk and the rhododendrons...stunning.
A most enjoyable day spent walking around, did the long walk around the estate. There are shorter walks for those less able, and some excellent gardens to be seen. Eg the water gardens are spectacular.

“I wish we lived nearer.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

I'm sure there is something to see here on any day of the year and it was wonderful to just stroll around and look at the various plantings. I could happily visit several times a year to see the seasons change but alas this was probably our only visit.
I'm not sure how the partnership between the NT and Kew works but I'm very glad it does.
