I frequently drive past the viaduct on the Balcombe - Haywards Heath Road and even after 30+ years of seeing it and travelling across it on the London-Brighton line it is still impressive. One day I must make time to park up and actually look at it closely, it certainly deserves closer inspection judging from the many photographs I have seen. The bit that always amazes me is that all the bricks were carried there on barges on the river which, apart from being a feat in itself, is particularly strange bearing in mind that the river is now little more than a tiny stream. If you like Victorian architecture and/or railway engineering you will be more than satisfied I am sure.
