“Really not that bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Simple cheap overnight bed, expectations were REALLY low as I booked before checking this site, but HONESTLY it wasn;t THAT bad. The staff were very pleasant, the beds/bedding and towels were immaculately clean. To be honest the place did smell damp in the public areas, it really could do with sorting out, but the room was fine with no obvious damp in the sleeping area. The bathroom tiles could have done with replacing and also the kettle! The window frames were shabby and so was the chair. Overall - totally average stay. As per the previous review, the cafe next door Billy's (open 7am til 7pm) was great for breakfast, really nice. If you want to go somewhere nice in the evening for a meal (bout £18 a head) try The Three Crowns - Wisborough Green - about a 7/8 minute drive - you won;t be disappointed - probably call in advance to book though.

Room Tip: Close to reception, closer to the nice cafe next door.

I am horrified at some of the reviews for this Travelodge - my husband and I have been to many many travelodges in the UK - I can only speak as I find and trust me I am as fussy as the next woman. I found the staff excellent and the room was good - we have been in some that only had half a toilet roll left and no tea or coffee - the television was broken and TV remote stolen - so I can hand on heart say everything was as we would expect - PLUS YOU ARE NOT STAYING AT THE RITZ - I asked for extra pillows and towels, no trouble at all. The restaurant on site was excellent too "Billys on the Road". If people make awful reviews they should check in the Premier Inn in the future - leave the travel lodges to those who appreciate you get what you pay for.

Booked for one night while passing through - the rooms were OK and sort of clean. There is nothing on the web site to say that there is somewhere good to eat just next door, which is a shame as a lot more people might stay there if they knew how good it was. Billys on the Road has a great breakfast menu and good coffees, and a much better bet than the Travel Lodge 'breakfast box' which was so disappointing it went in the bin. Next time I stay I will get there early enough for dinner and breakfast in this great little cafe. Makes up for the bad bits of the hotel.

Very basic travelodge but staff very polite and helpful. Room and hotel seemed very tidy and they let us check in early at no extra cost so full marks to hotel staff. Top cafe outside for post wedding full english alcohol soak up. Booked a taxi from the company whose cards were on reception desk. Massive error. It was a bank holiday but the clowns tried to charge me £40 for a 6 mile taxi journey. Cue massive argument. Still not hotels fault (unless their in an evil secret agreement with the taxi firm)

I had the misfortune of staying in this travel lodge ,the whole place needs knocking down and rebuilding the corridor to the room stank of cheap air freshener all the paint work was old ,chipped and dirty. In the room it was no better with dirty doors chipped paintwork but to add to the disgrace the bath was stained and there was mould in the grouting I certainly would not have taken a bath but braved a useless shower with dirty shower curtain .
My duvet was the thinnest ever with a hole in the duvet cover and I had to use three pillows to make two normal ones.
If I had not been booked in by my employer and had a colleague ,I would have left straight away.
The only saving grace was Billy' Dinner next door which was great , clean , great staff and good food.
Travel lodge ought to be ashamed.

This travelodge was nothing to rave about. It was dated, but clean which is the main thing but very basic. Good value for money but would not stay again. Also it was located in the middle of nowhere and felt like a motel in the desert in America.

It is an average travelodge but desk staff are friendly and helpful. The Little Chef has gone and has been replaced with a fantastic cafe called Billy's on the Road. Great staff and a wonderful all-day menu. Have no fear about where you're going to take your family to eat. A gazillion times better than Little Chef ever was. There is a lovely model railway running inside a glass table which you can sit at. Travelodge is travelodge but the cafe makes it bearable.
