“Lovely Saturday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Me and my girlfriend visited the Black Horse after finishing some Christmas shopping. It was very quiet but later began filling up, as we're both vegetarian the menu didn't offer much but what we were offered choices from the evening menu to compensate for this.

The service was absolutely lovely, the food arrived quickly and tasted great. We regret getting a starter however though as the meals were very generous portions! So we struggled to finish somewhat.
From our experience, we would definitely recommend and plan to return when in the area.

“A lovely quiet gem of a pub serving really good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

We made a reservation for a table for 4 one Sunday evening back in October and found ourselves almost completely alone except for one late arriving regular guest. Having the whole place to ourselves was great - service was attentive (!) and the food was all that we could have hoped for. I had the roast leg of lamb and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was typical quaint olde worlde pub type which I really miss living in Germany. And the chance to try some real, genuine local ale was an extra bonus. Being close to the sea for a nice, quiet stroll afterwards to let the meal settle was an additional bonus. This little gem of a pub is a little off the beaten track which is one of it's charms :-)

“We go back time and time again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Service, food and friendly staff. We have been going here for almost 20 years and have seen it change hands several times. It's a warm, friendly atmosphere and if the weather is good sitting outside, even for just a drink is very nice. We have our favourite dishes and that's one of the reasons we keep going back.
