“Good base for a one night theatre break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Stayed here for one night on an organised coach trip to visit the theatre. We paid very little for the whole package and feel we got excellent value for money .The hotel was better than we would have expected for the price paid. Our room was comfortable and functional although the skirting boards looked like they hadn't seen a duster in months. We enjoyed a good English breakfast and a pub type carvery for our evening meal (again better than we imagined for the price we paid). Reception staff are efficient and extremely friendly, a real asset to the hotel. All in all a nice enough place to stay for the night if you happen to be in the area.

I stayed here for 2 nights working away in Birmingham. It was about a 15 minute drive from city centre and is conveniently located just off the motorway.
The location was very quiet which was great for getting a good nights sleep.
The room was a good size with a good size flat screen tv. The bathroom was also spacious with a lovely waterfall shower.
Also made use of the free wifi.
I ate it the hotel both nights, in the restaurant the first night and room device the second, both meals were good and reasonably priced for a hotel.
I did not make use of the small pool but it looked nice.
Staff were also friendly and helpful.

Stayed here last night 4-9-13 with work, on arrival staff extremely friendly, helpful check in was extremely quick. Room was small but adequate as I was on my own, very clean can't fault anything to do with the room, or the hotel as such. In the restaurant however I ordered Sirloin steak @ £18.99 on ordering the waiter ( which again was friendly & helpful) said do you want any sides with that I said "does it not come with fries" the response from the waiter was "no you have to order those seperatley" they were priced £3.49 it seems strange that the meal was literally just the steak, a mushroom, a tomato and a sauce of your choice and you had to pay extra for fries.

£22.48 for a sirloin steak with fries in my opinion is expensive and the meat wasn't all that either. My colleague ordered theirs well done and when it came out it was still mooing ( ok so im exagerating a little but it was very pink, certainly not well done ).

We stayed in rooms 425/429 on the 1st September 2013, rooms were spotless & en-suite was also very clean. only problem was t.v in 425 was'nt working (but not a major problem) The duty manager was informed & was in the room in 2 minutes flat to try & rectify the problem. The evening meal was quite adequate & breakfast was simply gorgeous with anything you could ask for.
On the whole, a very nice stay so dont take much notice of the poor/terrible reviews.
True, the surrounding area is a bit in need of some re-generation but the same can be said of MANY cities in the country.

I stayed in the hotel as I was attending a family function on a weekend and this hotel was easy to get to ( just off motorway junction) and cheap. I was surprised at the quality of the room, I expected much less but was very happy with the ensuite, cleanliness, and the very warm and friendly welcome I got from the staff. There is a very nice chill out lounge which is a great place to just sit and unwind for a few minutes in the evening.
The best part of my stay was a massage I received from the massage therapist in the Spa - Anita. I don't often write reviews and actually I wouldn't have written this one had it not been for the exceptional massage I received. If there is one thing you must do when staying in this hotel, it is to book a massage with Anita. Her massage room was cosy, chilled out and had an amazing warm vibe. Anita herself is bubbly, professional but down to earth. More importantly she knows what she is talking about! She gave me follow up advice after my massage and got rid of some very stubborn knots! Without a doubt one of the best massages I have ever received!

We stayed here with National Holidays. The hotel was nice & very clean. The staff were all lovely.....especially the waiters and waitresses. Our room was a good size and was clean with a nice modern-looking en-suite, tea & coffee making facilities, A hanging wardrobe, TV. There is free wi-fi. There is climate control in the rooms which was great. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in.

We ate an evening meal and breakfast there. The evening meal was a buffet (part of our national holidays trip) & was lovely. I had soup then chicken curry & chips & choc cake.......they served bottles of water with your meal which was good. The breakfast was also a buffet & there was a huge choice of continental and english breakfast. We had a drink in the bar downstairs in the evening. The bar prices were reasonable.

The only negative thing is could say was that the swimming pool is small and was always full, I did however use the sauna and steam room briefly (they were also very busy). The gym appeared rather empty.
Also, this hotel is huge & our room was down some steps, there is a lift but we were just down a few steps so I don't think the lift would cover that floor? If you have mobility issues i would ask for an accessible room.

I would definitely stay here again if I needed accommodation in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for one on same floor as reception if you have mobility concerns.

Stayed here while on a National Holidays trip. The hotel is nice, very pleasant. The rooms are spacious, bathroom facilities excellent. The air con actually works too!! (Very rare in these kind of hotels) The staff were very friendly and polite, always smiling and talkative. Only negative is the weekend opening times for gym facilities.. Open later than a weekday and by the time it did open our coach was just about ready to leave.. Overall though one of the better hotels in all aspects and I'd recommend it
