“Disappointing”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

What a disappointing stay at this hotel. On check in 2 of the party had been placed into a disabled room, we asked to be moved and were placed into a twin room that we had originally requested. The bathroom was dirty with grime around the bath and dust elsewhere in the bathroom. A plastic bag was left in between the broken shower screen and a replacement curtain. The window handle was broken and the frame was dirty. There was a burn from a cigarette on the enamel of the bath. We stayed half board, the food was at times inedible. Frozen fish HONESTLY!!! Cold poached eggs, condiments already served on the plate with the food, I could go on and on! The waiter this morning was beyond grumpy, in fact he was positively rude, learning some common courtesy would not go amiss! WOULD NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL AGAIN

Room Tip: The room we stayed in was not in main part of hotel it was a more modern building next to it. It had...

Thank you for your review of your recent stay at the Charlcote Pheasant after investigation, I would like to add the following points. We allocate all rooms on what has been booked ie if you book a twin you get a twin thisa was the case and after complaining tio recception they were moved to another twin, which when the receptioniest took them over they were very happy there is no cigarette burn on the bath, but a small chip in the enamel. I have noted the points you have made regarding your meals, however if you read the many other reviews you will infact see that we have been praised for not only food and service but for Staff.

After booking this Hotel for a 4 night stay because of the positive reviews on here, we were dissapointed. On arrival to our allocated room we discovered our bathroom hadn't been cleaned especially the toilet, surely this is something which is paramount for hygiene reasons. Our room obviously had dipped out on the cleaning stakes because there was a reciept on the floor, along with clothes tags etc. We complained to the Receptionist and she said she was unable to arrange for our room to be cleaned as there was no-one from Housekeeping available but she would send a Porter to check or we could change rooms but by this time we had unpacked. We also complained about the room temperature as it was cold, she advised they have the heating on a timer and it was due to come on shortly (5pm). She issued us with a heater which did help...... but little did we know the so-called room radiator would keep us awake some of the night with constant clicking and bubbling. Warning... the walls are paper thin you can hear your next door neighbours flushing the toilet, coughing, talking etc.
Housekeeping could be improved i.e. looking above eye level as a few cobwebs blowing in the wind and on top of the bedside lamps.
Breakfast - good selection and quick to be served - no complaints!
Evening meals - limited choice on selection unless you are willing to upgrade, but after paying the amount we did not see why we should have to pay more to upgrade on the food. I would say there needs to be a bit more open minded when it comes to the set-course menu as not every evening was there something to equate to a 3 course meal as per the package paid for.
On the first night I had to ask 3 times for a clean fork, at breakfast the next day the sugar bowl on our table had tea/coffee stains on the outside, the cups were stained.
On a positive note - it is set in a pleasant location, the Hungarian guy (sorry don't know what his name is) was brilliant he was in the Restaurant he was happy to talk and put things right. Stratford-upon-Avon short distance away along with Warwick and Leamington Spa.

Thank you for your revierw of your stay at the Charlecote Pheasant, I have spoken with the various Heads of Department and I apologise if you feel that your room/bathroom was not cleaned properly. Once this was reported the Housekeeper did go an re- clean your room the Heating is on timers, and when you reported the noise from your radiator our maintenance man did fix this. I have spoken with the Restaunt Manager regarding your comments of dirty cutlery. We do offer a very good choice on our table D Hote menu, and you are under no obligation to upgrade to the
Al la carte menu, it is an added extra should you wish to enhance your dining experience and at a very competitive price with great savings if you are on a Half board package.

We enjoyed 4 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal at this hotel recently and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our room was comfortable and clean (we did pay extra for an upgrade for a larger bed). The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was adequate and quite enjoyable for the price that we paid for our short break. All in all a very pleasant stay and I am sure we will return some time in the future.

Room Tip: Worth upgrading for an extra £25 for a better room.

We recently stayed here- the hotel is in a very good location and the staff are brilliant. We had a problem with our room but were immediately offered an alternative which was beyond our expectations! The only criticism we would make was that the table d'hôte menu was a bit limited and did not match the one we experienced at the coast and country hotel in Harrogate. This is only a very minor criticism and we will definitely return.

3 day weekend stay at the Pheasant as part of a half- term break from work. Hotel situated next to Charlecote park and the village church (well worth a visit) accross the road. Excellent accomodation and food. Only two minor criticisms- my wife is partially disabled so it would be helpful to have seating in the reception area whilst booking in- 3-4 seats would help. The hotel accomodation is based around the car-park in various buildings and whilst we were given directions by reception who used a map and there are signs outside pointing the way it would, I think be helpful if all guests were given a map as it took me and my wife (to her considerable frustration) a few minutes to find our room! Otherwise a very pleasant stay indeed.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to reception and the restaurant as you could get wet walking to the restaurant...

We have just spent a week at this wonderfully comfortable hotel, with our sister and brother-in-law. Its a great location for exploring nearby Stratford and Warwick, and even better, the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and warm, and towels could be changed every day if you wished. I think it would be good idea would be to have hooks somewhere in the bedrooms for any wet, dripping outdoor coats. The only drawback we could see for some, was the fact of having to walk across the car park, although not too far, to the dining room, which could possibly prove difficult for some older people, especially in very bad weather(heavy rain, winter snow?).
We were on half board basis and enjoyed our meals, although the veg was a little bit soggy at times, and having 2 cheese starters out of a choice of 3 on the menu on one evening wasn't too good if you didn't like cheese(pate would have been nice). However the food was good and enjoyable and we were always asked if we would like more veg. The restaurant staff were excellent, especially Dan(hope the central heatings finished!) and Angelina, who were attentive and always made sure we had what we needed. All in all, it was great and we really enjoyed our stay at this little gem, will return at some point and would certainly recommend it. Thanks to you all XX
