We visited the North East for a 1 night stay & a visit to the Metro centre[ which i must say is one of the most spacious & pleasant shopping malls of this type] and therefore was handy as it was about 4 miles away.
Placed in Room 207 - to the back of the hotel, and therefore minimal traffic noise from the A1 road. The room was clean, tidy and totally functional for what we wanted - with tea / coffee making facilties - although you have to bring your own toileteries as Travelodge do not provide them as of right . The room and building was not brilliant but we could not complain as we purchased at a very good discounted rate.
The female receptionist was very helpful, and answered our queries fully, however she could not help to replace a bulb that was absent from its fitting in a bed side lamp. She did try to find one in the "spares room" - but the one she found was too small !!!
The room was warm, and quiet with few residents.
Had a Fish & Chip meal at the EDC [ Eat & Drink co] facility at the Moto services which was cooked to order & was very pleasant at £5.99. Actually it was less - as there was a "buy one - get one free offer" during our stay. Sign up to EDC until 1st of December,2011 - and the one meal is free.
Altogether a good "stop over" in a clean but tired accomadation - with good staff member.
On way home visited "Galleries" shopping centre in Washington- much smaller than Metro - but had some good shops including Asda where a hearty breakfast / tea was purchased for £4.25
