stayed here for two nights and come on the metro...was sent down the opposite way to the hotel by an unfriendly local...thankfully two helpful ladies pointed me in the right direction after i had walked over half a mile in the wrong direction...staff are very helpful and found them quite pleasant...rooms are nice and pleasant but i wasnt happy being woken up by a phone on the outside wall in corridor...plus was woken by guests on the first night but which is no fault of the hotel...obviousley someone left their key!!!!the breakfast on the first am was quite disappointing...it tasted like it had been prepared well in advance...not freshly cooked yet on the sunday it was exactly the opposite!! lovely!!!!overall i would stay here again and was very handy for the buses and metro down the road...the single bed was ever so comfortable and had a great nights sleep!!

Room Tip: think the hotel needs to be properly signposted as i walked past it twice before i rang to ask...the...

Booked late and arrived late, rooms nice and well equipped , staff polite , breakfast excellent . For the money I was expecting far less so very pleasantly surprised ,Only prob was the water pipes in room were a little noisy constantly rough out the night!

Room Tip: Make sure you check the room isn't as noisy as mine with water pipes

We were given a room on the second floor and after a night out to celebrate our nieces 18th birthday we returned to the hotel just before midnight. Spare the emergency lighting in corridors and stairs the hotel was totally devoid of electricity. Internal telephone not working, we went back down to the reception desk, to enquire if the hotel had any emergency measures for such an occassion. Despite literature informing guests of 24 hour cover we gave up after 10 minutes of trying to raise someone. On checking out we were not asked if our stay had been enjoyable or infact were we given any information/explanation of the black out.
The decor is great need of refreshment and the services of a water deviner would be helpful for the shower in the room in which we stayed.

Stayed 1 night. Room was big and very clean.Comfy beds plus tea/coffee making facilities. We were unable to turn the heating down but the very helpful member of staff assisted us and problem solved. The water took a while to drain from the bath, apparantly they are getting a new system installed soon.Breakfast was fine but not spectacular. However for the price we paid for the stay it was value for money.

I stayed one night in their Suite room, very clean, large and well appointed (with iron, tea, biscuits, big TV, comfy bed etc.). My trip was a bit of a last minute rush and there were very few rooms that night available in South Shields due to some sort of company function; this was the only room I could find on Late Rooms... therefore a surprise that it actually turned out to be a pleasant small hotel with a decent breakfast and friendly staff.

Stayed for one night during the Great North Run weekend. Cost was £120 per room with breakfast which Is extortionate seeing that the stay is usually £65 per room but nearly double on this weekend date. We got a very small twin room with bathroom. Clean but drastically in need of updating (Which I think that the hotel are doing). Breakfast very average compared to other hotels or B&B's we have stayed in elsewhere. Nice location & staff.
