“Friendly, welcoming and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We've stayed here before and have always been happy with the overall service and value for money.
The staff are all very friendly and cheerful, which makes a real difference when you arrive after a long drive.
Breakfast in the Taybarn is excellent and real value for money.

From the moment we arrived, the 2 girls on reception were fantastic, even though they were having problems with their computers they still had us booked in within 5 minutes. The double room we had was spacious and clean, the bed was huge, clean and comfy. The bathroom was also clean..plenty of towels with a bath and shower. The staff at Taybarns were absolutely brilliant, from Kyle the manager to Melissa behind the bar, so friendly and pleasant ..the food was hot and well presented. Complete value for money. The only 1 downside was that there wasn't enough tea/cofee facilities in the room..but thats not a major disaster ..

I have stayed at this hotel on a few occassions. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the hotel itself is clean and tidy but could do with a makeover. Nice and comfortable beds and very quiet. Will stay here again when I'm next up that way.

I stay in many Premier Inns and other hotels around the UK but this is one of those I'd return to tomorrow. In most respects this was your standard Premier Inn, spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and conveniently located, but the staff really set this one apart. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing was to much trouble and the staff always made time to take an interest in what you were doing and advice on what to do and where to go. Special mention has to go to Fiona and Steve the night porter. They both made you feel more a family member than a guest and I would return again just to see them! The only downside to the whole experience is that all the corridor doors are held open which I assume is to reduce banging, unfortunately this allows noise from bar and reception to carry

Room Tip: Away from reception if possible. Hotel is very popular and regularly has people dropping in on the o...

Stayed at this hotel several times when in South Shields for sports events. Always a good clean hotel with efficient staff and good sized rooms. No noise, good buffet restaurant on site which is good value and does the job. Wi fi is 30 mins which annoys me as all hotels should include 'free' wi fi in their price and facilities by now.

Staff were very good and always polite and well informed, all round another good stay and highly recommended.

A lovely welcome at check in, pleasant and quick check in. We had a triple room, the double bed was huge and comfy, the single (camp bed?) wasn't as nice, the mattress was a bit thin. Large clean bathroom with bath and shower.
The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were all really pleasant and helpful which made it a nice stay. The only minus point was the kids being noisy in the corridor and room next door from 6.30am on a Sunday morning, when I went out to ask them to keep it down because people were trying to sleep they were all in the same leggings and t shirt and we think that there was some sort of dance competition going on?
I don't hold the hotel responsible for this (more the adults who should be supervising!) but it was disappointing not to get a lie in.
The breakfast was great! Served at Taybarns next door and it was faultless, lovely, hot, lots of choice and good value.

You know what you're getting with a Premier Inn and this one was no exception. Room wasn't the most modern, but it was clean and warm and the bed was nice and comfortable.

I will mention the staff though who were amongst the friendliest I've met!
