“No Fan!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

After a long journey down we were greeted with a lovely smile. However after finding a wallet on the stairs, the receptionist seemed quite annoyed that people kept loosing articles, like apples and bottles of water. Giving them yet another job to do!!! We felt it necessary to ask the following day if the owner had been reunited with the wallet.
The hotel was quiet clean, and the beds being the most important thing were a lot more comfortable than other places. However I do think they could have done a little better in the bathroom.
With it being the hottest day for a very long time it would have been good if there was some air conditioning. Failing that, it would have been good if they had some portable fans available, as it was extremely stuffy in the room. The bedroom was situated above the outdoor seating area. So if you opened the window you could hear several clients on the outside smoking, yuck! They carried on talking and smoking until way into the early hours!
Food, the soup was atrocious, please don't choose leek and potato. However my husbands steak was very good and my salmon was adequate. Also a very limited choice on the menu mainly grills. The menu for starters could have done with a little imagination. However it was a refreshing change that the waiter gave us water at the table with lime, without even being asked.
At breakfast the staff were friendly, however they had to keep referring the simplest of questions to there boss, who seemed the only person who seemed competent. As she was quite busy training a member of staff, there wasn't adequate directions as to where to go, or where the different types of food was situated. It took them quite a while to replace the bread for toast. We also had to ask for plates for the full English breakfast.
The late check out was really good, as this gave us extra time to leave!

We got married on 29th of July at the ramada. We had the best day and staff went the extra mile to help and make the day perfect. I had loads of decorations to make the venue look slightly less like a hotel. They listened to exactly what I said and Mayed it look amazing! I spent so long paying attention to detail and the hotel helped so much to make it exactly how I wanted. Clinton the wedding co or donator took control do everyone knew where to go so I didn't have to worry on the day! Highly recommend. Xxx

Dear Hkkkk,

I am so pleased to read that you both had the best day on your very special wedding day. Although the Hotel possesses plenty of character, I’m glad that all the decorations and your attention to detail made the venue look amazing and closer to what you had envisaged.

The staff are a fantastic team who know exactly what is expected from them and they take huge pride in delivering that high standard of service, with Clinton a shining light, firstly laying down the precise template for a successful event, and then ensuring that the high quality is carried all the way through to the day itself.

It will give me great pleasure to pass on your kind words to my team, especially Clinton, whom you have highlighted.

On behalf of the hotel I would like to pass on my best wishes to you both for a healthy, wealthy and happy life together and l personally look forward to welcoming you back next June (I do hope that the “...29th of July…” was a typing error!), to celebrate your first year wedding anniversary.

Yours faithfully

Stayed here whilst working locally.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Also very cheerful.
The room was basic and the Bath was damaged slightly. This however did not put a dampner on our stay.
It was warm in the room but with the window open it was cool.
I had a great night sleep.
The breakfast was a great buffet cooked breakfast. And a great coffee also.
Would stay here again ... Just need free wifi in rooms :-)

Dear joelthorn,

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the buffet cooked breakfast, the coffee and especially the staff whom you found to be friendly, helpful and very cheerful. I shall be sure to pass on your positive feedback to the team.

Your observations regarding the bedroom and the bath have been duly noted and in terms of the wear and tear of the hotel and these issues will be resolved in our constant refurbishment program.

You will also be pleased to hear that we are in the process of reviewing our wifi offering to our guests.

The Hotel is in the perfect location for those who are working locally, especially with business parks situated in Guildford, Leatherhead, and Woking and Dorking..

Once again I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and, very importantly your sleep, with us.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for choosing to stay at the Ramada Guildford Leatherhead and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel soon

Yours faithfully

Basic Room with noise from above and outside and the corridor. They "forgot" my room service order and did not apologise when I complained in the evening or the morning. They need a wake up as wherever I went the residents were complaining about something !! Would stay again but only if I needed to out of desperation !!

Room Tip: Most if not all rooms are in the new block which does not have good sound insulation and no underlay...

Dear RupertPon,

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for what reads as a very disappointing stay, especially regarding the noise and how your room service issue was handled.

We provide our guests with a 24 hour room service facility, and I have spoken firstly to my Food & Beverage team, and then with my reception and management team, concerning our procedures, standards and our customer care policy. These issues have now been addressed

Again, I am sorry that you had cause to complain about your stay with us, I would be delighted if you will return and give us a second chance to offer you the high quality of welcome, care and hospitality that we try very hard to accomplish at the Ramada Guildford Hotel.

Yours faithfully

When my friend got married, I was too late to book in to the main hotel, so booked the Ramada Guildford instead along with a number of other guests.
It was an easy booking, and reasonably priced
My only issue was that I could not get access to my room until after 3pm - despite a check out of 11am so had to get changed for the wedding in the toilets. Not very glam, but the staff were apologetic
My room was a little dated compared to the main areas of the hotel, but fine apart from that.

Room Tip: Ask for an early check in if you need it!

Dear Pippa H,

Thank you for taking the time to write an informative and concise review. I am pleased to hear that you found the booking process easy, and the Hotel reasonably priced and although you found the room a little dated, the rest of the hotel was fine.

Our Check in time is from 2pm and check out by 12 noon. We will endeavour to try and check in arriving guests who arrive earlier than the standard check in time if it is possible to do so, unfortunately we were unable to do so on his occasion.

I do hope that even though you changed in a substitute “dressing room”, you were suitable attired and that you had a wonderful time at the wedding!

May I take this opportunity to thank you for choosing to stay at the Ramada Guildford Leatherhead and we look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel soon

Yours faithfully

I had my wedding reception here 31st May & we both had the best day, better than what we expect (but I think that was down to nerves)!! From the 1st meeting with Clinton (wedding co-ordinator) I knew I was in good hands. Having that back up from him made me relax so much, he was such a big help. On the actually day, seeing Clinton & knowing he was there organising everything we had gone through, made me relax even more, so I was able to soak up the atmosphere & enjoy myself. The whole day was perfect & run smoothly & we can't thank everyone enough. The Master of Cermony-Peruon (I am sorry if I have spelt this wrong) was amazing, he had everything under control & made sure that everyone at my wedding was happy & the staff were on the ball as well. My father especially was impressed & will be writing a thank you card to you all.
Brilliant, brilliant day. Thank you with all my heart.

Dear Julesrogers,

It is wonderful to read that your wedding day was better than you both expected, culminating into a brilliant day. This is down to the whole team, who find it a pleasure and enjoy ensuring that your day was perfect and runs smoothly, and no one personifies this more than Clinton. Every aspect of a wedding, from the build up, the actual day and the follow up are an absolute passion of his, and this shines through in his role of wedding co-ordinator, so that, as you have stated, enables both of you to relax and soak up the atmosphere. I shall be more than happy to pass on your very kind comments to my team, especially Clinton and Puran, whom you kindly highlighted for their special attention to yourselves, and all your guests.

I look forward to hearing from your father, and on behalf of the hotel I would like to pass on my best wishes to you both for a very happy married life together. We look forward to welcoming you both back next May, to celebrate your first year wedding anniversary.

Yours faithfully

We had booked to stay here for our cousins wedding however, on the Thursday before the Saturday wedding, they phoned us to say they were overbooked and would we move to the hotel around the corner for the same price. Having read previous reviews i think this is a common ploy for wedding guests when the wedding is not being held at this venue.
Moving hotels wasn't the end of the world although, we were separated from all the other guests, and late at night after a long wedding it was a cold, dark and tiring walk. What really annoyed us was the fact that the hotel around the corner was actually £26 cheaper for bed and breakfast than the Ramada actually cost. It had been implied that we were getting like for like. We wrote to the Ramada after the event explaining wy we were annoyed and after a couple of phone calls and emails they did refund the difference. No idea whether it's a good hotel or not but wanted to warn people if they get 'bumpe'.
