“Cosy, affordable alternative to central Londen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

House, lodge or hotel? I'd rather call it a B&B, based on the cosy atmosphere, friendly and personal service and great breakfast.
Looking for an affordable place to stay during the Olympics, I found this place due to its location close to the track of the time trial. I chose the cheapest, smallest room with private bath/shower and toilet. Small indeed, with only skylights, but perfect for me. Good bed and towels. Clean. Great toiletries. LCD TV. Room was next to the breakfast area, but with earplugs I wasn't bothered by the sounds in the morning. Breakfast was mainly continental, but had a large choice.
Location outside the centre wasn't a problem, as trains to central Londen departed every 15 minutes and took only about 30 minutes to Waterloo station. Taking a tourist boat to Westminster is a great alternative for a more leisurely trip as well.
Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to enjoy the surroundings and try the great-sounding restaurants (including one Italian by Jamie Oliver), but it seems to me that its a great alternative for central Londen, if you want to stay in a cosy, and more affordable place in a quiet and green setting.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such kind words. It really is appreciated. I have worked here for years now and I'm still amazed that our sleepy little village, with it's 300 deer and riverside walks, is just half an hour from Central London. I was equally amazed to see Bradley Wiggins whizz straight past on his bicycle on his way to winning Olympic gold! There is so much to say thanks for in this review, all I'll say is it was left by an elegant woman who was liked by all of our staff.

We only stayed for one night after our sons wedding in the area but the room and beds were comfortable and the cooked breakfast a lovely surprise as we were expecting continental style.
All staff offered us the sort of care and courtesy that made us feel welcome.

Many thanks and we thoroughly recommend to others.

This is a nice review, left by an amiable guest and we are very proud to receive it. Such compliments are earned by hours of diligent work from our staff. Like a swan, Chase Lodge appears all grace and charm on the surface but behind the scenes, our legs are kicking - our maids are scrubbing the linen, our maintence man is painstakingly tending to our 200-year-old antique building and our reception staff are paying precise attention to every detail to ensure our guetss are happy. This is why we are proud of this review, it is a clear indication that all our hard work is worthwhile.

We stayed for olympics tennis at wimbledon. They were helpful about leaving bags to go to tennis and then arriving back late and the little extra touches made the stay lovely. We felt welcome to come and go even though we only stayed one night. The breakfast had wide choice and the rooms were lovely. Especially the names!!
We will return because it was so delightful and quintessentially british and we loved it!

Room Tip: All rooms a little different but lovely.

This is our hundreth 5-star review and we are incredibly proud to receive it. This particular guest couldn't have been more welcome and we shared their joy when Andy Murray won the gold. The phrase 'quintessentially british' sums up Chase Lodge to a tee. Like all things British, we are polite, quirky and with an infectious sense of humour - a bit like the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics but on a much, much tinier scale. Thanks again for such a personable review and you are always welcome here.

We stayed here for the Hampton Flower Festival in July and all thought what a lovely find this hotel was, the staff were excellent and couldnt do enough to help, especially Sandy on reception, the rooms were very clean and comfortable, Mum couldnt do many steps so they gave us a room downstairs (Queen Anne) which she was over the moon with, complimentary afternoon tea and cupcakes was great just what we needed after travelling up on train. Would recommend this to all who like small, clean, comfortable, freindly hotels

If there was a review site for guests, we'd give Miss Leach and her mum five stars. And in honestly, what could be nicer than catching a boat up to the Palace then coming 'home' for fea and cake?.That's what Chase Lodge is all about. An easy, friendly and rich experience, for less than the price of a Travelodge box. The fact that these two guests were happy, makes us all incredibly proud.

The ideal place for my Mother and I to stay for a couple of nights whilst visiting the Wimbledon tennis championships recently. A small and friendly run hotel (B&B). The rooms, with lovely soft towels & linen, were clean and the beds extremely comfortable (so much so we overslept!).

We both enjoyed our breakfast, especially the bacon & eggs - a real treat.

The location is very convenient for visiting Kingston, Hampton Court, Richmond Park & Wimbledon. There are several very good restaurants in the area.

This was my second visit to Chase Lodge and I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Thank you for the lovely review and for mentioning our beds. One time, when the AA hotel inspectors came to visit, they too overslept, which is just about the best recommendation we could have (they also left us a glowing report, which you can read on the newsletter page of our website). For the tennis, Wimbledon is just a ten minute train ride away. As I mentioned in a previous response, last year we had one of the tennis players here to stay (who shall remain nameless). He flew over from Brazil, got knocked out in the first round then had a long flight home - but throughout, he was a complete gentleman, was gracious to his opponent and by being so decent, made all our maids swoon. We love Wimbledon but not as much as we loved these guests! Thank you, once again for posting such kind words. You are always welcome here.

I stayed here with my bridesmaids the night before my wedding, and for getting ready in the morning, then two nights with my husband after the wedding.

It was a lovely, little hotel with lots of nice touches, and I was happy and relaxed being here, in the middle of quite a emotional, stressful time! It has a very villagey feel, even though it is still in London. Thanks Robert for your friendliness and enthusiasm!

If you'd like to see just how wonderful Lan looked on her wedding day, have a look at the newsletter page of our website. Lan and her bridesmaids added a real touch of glamour to our hotel and we would like to wish the bride and groom our very best. The whole family was a delight and it was a privilege to play a small part in such a happy day. Congratulations!

We stayed at the Chase Lodge with our son whilst visiting London (just a short trip on the train, cost us a total of £20.00 for our day travel card). We were warmly welcomed by Robert who was able to give us all the local information we needed and advice when visiting London. The hotel is an extremely relaxing environment with very friendly and attentive staff only topped by the best cup cakes ever! We will definately be returning when next visiting London.

Thank you for the lovely review. It is much appreciated. As the guest said, you don't need to spend much money to have a nice day here. A paddle-steamer to Hampton Court Palace is only £6.50 return and the jetty just a short stroll from the hotel. There are some lovely walks along the Thames Path or to see the deer in Bushy Park that don't cost a penny, less than a minute from the hotel. This (very amiable) family, took a 30 minute train ride into London and within minutes saw Big Ben, The London Eye and St. Paul's Cathedral, all by just sauntering down the South Bank - then on to the Tate Modern, Europe's biggest art gallery, which is also free. My own particular favourites (also free) are Sir John Soane Museum, The Hunterian Collection, the V+A and Courtauld Gallery (free on Mondays till 2pm). For the price of an £8.50 travelcard, you really can have a wonderful day out. Thanks again for the lovely review. We wish you, and your fantastic son, all the best.
