A burger s a good test of a restaurant.
A good burger is a sublime experience.
A bad burger is as awful as life can be.
It has different parts and each part has to be right.
The bun -well toasted no sesame seeds thank heavens and a lightly glazed top 9/10
The beef - first class good quality and plenty of it 10/10
The cooking - good pink in the middle charred on the outside 10/10
The bits- Cheese Ok (more about this later) lettuce little gem should be Cos -or perish the thought - iceberg . deduct one point.
Tomatoes fresh and well sliced similarly gherkins.
Mayo seemed good and home made. 9/10
I did specify no cheese but it nevertheless arrived with cheese. They offered to change it-but it all looked so good I wouldn't part with it.
Chips skinny- bit Mcdonaldish - not great -the weakest part of the dish 6/10
Service -apart from getting the cheese wrong- service was prompt courteous and welcoming.
A good Burger. With a big bottle of mineral water and a tip £18. Costly but well worth it.
