We needed a sit down lunch as a break from the wonders of Hampton Court Palace last Friday. The Riverside was across the road so gave it a try. We chose the inside dining room with the wonderful view of the Thames rather than out on the terrace. Good decision! The service was reasonable. One young man seemed to have the training wheels on but he was attempting to give good service even if he wasn't quite getting there. We started with a glass of champagne - excellent. We both had the ham hock pâté. This was also delicious. We each had a second entree rather than a main. The linguini with creamy sauce was good but not great. The prawns with mango was fine, just a bit boring. I could have chosen better. The young waiter mixed up the coffee order but fixed it up when this was pointed out. The relaxed environment contributed to us leaving feeling very positively about the Riverside.
