Not too much space for clothes, room was clean, cooked breakfast took a long time to come, although complaint dealt with well.

If you are visiting England for the second time (or visiting relatives but dont want to stay in their homes) and know your way around but don't have enough money to stay in downtown london then croydon (outskirts of london but not as far as the counties) is the best place to be. This hotel is located very close to the bus stop and most buses take you to the croydon tube station. From Croydon tube station most trains will take into central lond (just 2 stops). The hotel is decent , with clean rooms. You get good english breakfast (tough limited choice).

Arrived in shabby reception at 10pm having prepaid with booking.com. desk person took my name, then picked up the phone and gave my details to someonelse . Then told me I'd been upgraded to the ibis two doors up. No explanation, no apologies for double booking or anything. Downright rude and uncaring.

The Ibis gave us a twin room (paid for a double) with no window and no air con, free cockroaches, no soap/gel in shower, disabled loo and basin (uselessly small) and checkered basin mixed. Room hot and sweaty. Is this Ibis review relevant here? Probably, as they reportedly own both hotels.

Had booked for two nights when visiting my family who lives nearby. When I checked in, I was went to a part of the Hotel which is being refurbished ...
Corridors and stairs smelt of paint and white spirit, and there was spilt paint on carpets ...
The room itself (47) was hardly wider than the bed, not very clean, and the smell inside was as strong as in the corridors ... paint and white spirit, no way I would sleep in there.
I complained to the desk, and the person at the reception said they could do nothing, had no other room, and would not do anything for the bill if I left ...
I left anyway because it was not possible to stay in such a room, had to find another place to stay and lost the amount I had paid for the room.
I would definitely never book again in this hotel, as there is a total lack of respect and care for customers...
"Building site" suits is better than hotel ... shame on owners

Room Tip: Have only seen room N°47, hardly wider than the double bed ...

+ Clean room
+ Big bathroom
+ Friendly and helpfull service
+ All right location
+ Easy but tasty breakfast

- Swipe cards reset when housekeeping used their mastercards (everyday you had to ask for reset)
- Rooms are very noisy, you can hear people walk on stairs 20yd away
- Renovations, however these are neccesary

Booked for my colleagues with our business card,, when they got there the person at reception said I did not send authorisation of take payment,( I have the email to prove I did) I booked 3 single rooms they were offered bunk beds that they would have to pay for themselves, so in the end my colleagues booked in somewhere else, I just got off the phone from hotel now to have had the most frustrating conversation with a man with broken english who does not have a clue..........Please do not stay there

Room Tip: Choose it in another hotel please

We have a son in long term hospital care in Kent so we stay in the area fortnightly. We usually use Travelodges when the rate is low enough as although they are basic in style they are properly equipped and reliably clean. This stay at Croydon Court/Norfolk house was a very cheap special offer so almost good value for the money, Travelodge booked well in advance much better though for the same rate.
Stayed in a dismal 'refurbished ' room in the Norfolk House part of the property. Very little english spoken by staff. One badly chipped mug in room for tea/coffee, exchanged grudgingly at reception for 2 grubby cups, which I washed thoroughly myself despite the fact that the miniscule basin had no plug; which also made for a shaving ordeal for my husband. Little space to move in the room (162)as it is filled with two double beds joined together and a single one. £5 deposit for tv remote if you want it. Headboards made of poorly cut melamine chipboard with unfinished rough edges. Old MFI bedtable. Spilt paint on carpets and curtains. Old radiator left dirty, not cleaned or repainted. GOOD LARGE SHOWER CUBICLE, PLENTY OF HOT WATER, HIGH PRESSURE. Towels grey and careworn, smelling of cooking oil and vinegar as all hotel towels seem to (even at The Carlton in New York).

Buffet breakfast of cornflakes, rationed bread and juice, OK. Creased white(?) chair covers made it looked like it was being mothballed; badly made and poorly fitted curtain and pelmet dressings. Tea dispenser inoperative which caused a crisis amongst the plentiful waiting staff. Room 162 has rear view over the shanty buildings at the rear which seem to be used as 'accomodation' for the miriad of asian staff. Use the security chain on the room door, you need it. Lots of noisy activity during the night and early hours.

Room Tip: Do they have any good rooms? May be quieter near the top of the buildings? I would not like to sta...
