Stayed here on Friday night special recently. Booked via own website and got £200 deal on deluxe junior suite including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Room was huge and fantastic (bathrooms are amazing!), dinner in Brasserie was lovely and the Spa, although expensive is very impressive and worth a visit. Service throughout was with a smile and efficient.
Very very nice hotel!!

We booked a deluxe room ,which I have to say really was lovely, very welcoming and cosy but Grand and Romatic at the same time. The main purpose of this was that we were entertaining some clients there for dinner and decided to treat our selves to a nights stay.

There is a but..... When ever I take anybody out for dinner at a place I have not been I always research the menu, and was delighted with the fine dining menu it looked absolutely delicious with some very interesting choices(Peanut something pudding with banana milshake etc !) so I was very dissapointed when we sat down and they brought a menu to us with not even half the choices I originally saw. When we were about to order our food, some of the guys requested a side dish of chips to make up for the ridicoulsy small selection, we were informed that it was a fine dining restaurant!!! Fine dining or not it was a very patronising comment and for someone like me who is fortunate enough to "fine dine" regulary, I was very embarresed with this comment infront of my guests!!! So I said I understood it was a fine dining restaurant but would it be possible for her to have some chips brought to us from the St James restaurant(which is a Grill type restaurant) and she said it was very far to walk!!! So I have to admit I said ....."well if its to much for you to walk there then we will" and asked her to make a reservation their for us. It was only then that she apologised and said that due to the recent london bombings they were unable to have certain ingrediants there to make up the whole menu!!! I could have quite understood this in the first place had she not been patronising, lazy or atleast recieved a phone call before our reservation giving us the choice!!! So we took our selves (the long walk of aprox 30 seconds!)to St James where the atmosphere was very buzzy and the staff were brilliant and the food was absolutley divine!!! which turned out good for me cause a meal for 6 in the fine dining with alcohol would have cost I estimate over £500 but only ended up paying £240.00!!! Must add that I did not think this lady provided 5 star service in her fine dining restaurant!

Apart from that I will give it another go as I did have one of the best comfortable night sleeps in a long time and I hear the Spa is amazing!

My stay completely hinged on the first twenty minutes in the hotel. I booked a deluxe room to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. The reception staff were very welcoming and because the porters were busy the banquet manager carried our bags to our room - he didn't have to do this but did just because the hotel staff do try very hard to make you feel good. It was with the room that I had my biggest problem. This is not a cheap hotel in any regard, I had paid around £200 for a Deluxe room. The room I got was beautiful on the inside but the "view" was of a twelve foot near vertical grass bank right next to the window. It made it feel like an underground cave. I thought about this for a while and then thought about the £200 and decided I wasn't happy. I went to reception and very politely complained. After a fair amount of discussion (with me pointing out that I couldn't/wouldn't pay for a more expensive room) I was upgraded to a suite. And this room was remarkable - huge with a four poster and a fantastic bathroom. Because of this single event I enjoyed my stay. Had I had to keep my original room I would have been very very disappointed.

The rest of the stay was great. The Spa is superb, the restaurant was excellent (although the wine list is stupidly expensive). The staff were friendly and the grounds were beautiful. But I had paid for this - the hotel bill for one night (including dinner and some very pricey drinks from the bar) was near £400 and that didn't include the Spa!! So Pennyhill is not worth the money. I have stayed in better hotels in the UK for much much less. The old bit of the hotel is charming but the larger new section is like a very upmarket Travelodge.

If you've got the cash and don't mind spending it then Pennyhill can provide a wonderful stay. However I felt that little bit too ripped off to ever go back.

I have stayed at this wonderful hotel a number of times over the past few years and every time has been something special. The hotel staff and amenities are superb and they often go out of their way to make you comfortable. Based around an old english country house the hotel has been sympathetically expanded to provide a large number of rooms, all of excellent proportions. Situated in the original house are a number of theme rooms. These are not tacky themes but beautiful "period" rooms with four poster beds, spa baths, huge walk in showers with rain bars the lot. Each room has a special feature. If you can afford it go for one of these rooms as they are all amazing. as an added bonus the hotel has the most amazing exclusive spa, which for a small fee, you can enjoy throughout your stay. Normally the spa is almost empty allowing you to enjoy the massive pool and jacuzzi and any of the thermal rooms which use exoctic herbs and spices to relax you. You can also try out the ice room! A quick tip is if you book a treatment you get access to the spa included and the cheapest treatment (Indian head massage) is the same price as the spa entry!! All in all this place is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in world-wide.

We have visited a number of spas in UK and abroad, and this was one of the best.
A little pricey, but worthwhile, as the facilities are second to none - even if you don't pay for extra spa treatments such as massages (the massage chairs are actually very effective).
In response to the last review, the idea of a spa is to be peaceful and private - if you want crowds and hen parties, go to champneys or forest mere!!!!! The layout is excellent, the accomodation (Aspen room) very nice. I agree that there should be tea making facilities considering the exceptional price you pay. The restaurant (we used the St James) is pleasant rather than ground-breaking cuisine (there is a fine dining restaurant), and breakfasts were terrific.
There are probably a few footballers wives (especially on the evening drinking in the bar) but the place is big enough to avoid them.
The service is what you would expect from a 5* - we highly reccommend it!
