“Ideal place to stay for Alton Towers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Premier Inn

This is our first time at one and have to say it exceeded our expectations, clean beds comfortable beds, great shower, just the heat in the rooms and air flow. I travelled with my three children and we had enough room, what can anyone expect for about £10 a head.
Spare pillows and towels, I have stayed in 4 star hotels that aren't this good. We will go back and by then hopefully they will have sorted the airflow in the rooms.

TABLE TABLE

Great breakfast, fruits of the forest with yeo valley yoghurt, choice of breads and crumpets. Full cooked breakfast, nice bacon and decent sausages. And it is genuinely £8.25 and kids eat free.
Poppy the Manager kept us in iced water as our room was baking. The waiting staff were so helpful and Andrew made us all laugh. The menu is basic but well cooked and well presented. We were a large group 4 adults and 8 children they looked after us very well.

HOT ROOMS
I snatched this from another review it is true, but the reception gave us a fan, the bar kept us in ice but it was really hard to sleep. (Sam was particularly helpful)
I didn't realise that the windows at all Premier Inns are restricted and have an additional fly screen outside. We tried the door ajar and we couldn't get a breeze and the temperature went up to 28 degrees overnight which made for an uncomfortable night.

We left our phone chargers in the room hoping they will be returned.

It is 10 miles to Alton Towers and convenient for the motorway.

Room Tip: Ask to have your room in the block where the Top Table is ours was and its just downstairs rather th...

We stayed here for 2 nights for a visit to Alton Towers. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had 2 extra beds in there for children and were pleased to find that we still had space to move about in the room. Reception staff were very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here overnight between two days at Alton Towers and the room we were given was warm when we arrived. The windows as with all Premier Inns were restricted and there was an additional fly screen outside. Even with the room door ajar (not ideal) we couldn't get a breeze and the temperature went up to 27 degrees overnight which made for a sweaty and uncomfortable night. Considering it wasn't actually a warm night outside we were all roasted.

The supposed 'family' room didn't appear to be any larger than a standard room and certainly couldn't cope with two adults, two children and a baby.

No sign of anyone on reception when we left so we had no real opportunity to complain either.

We booked for 3 nights & extended our Alton Towers trip to include visiting The Peak District. Hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Rooms were spotless & meals at The Water Bridge restaurant attached to the hotel were reasonable, tasty & generally good value.

Other visitors commented on noise of A50 traffic but even though we had our window open permanently, this did not disrupt us. The hotel is adjacent to a service station but you wouldn't have known it was there once you were in your room.

Alton Towers is about a 15 min drive away and made getting there for opening time a leisurely trip. We also visited Ashbourne and hired bikes on The Tissington Trail. Although the cycle route north, along an old disused railway track was slightly uphill, the whole family enjoyed the return journey that hardly involved any pedalling at all! A great way to experience the Derbyshire countryside without negotiating traffic and accessible to even the most inexperience cyclist.

Room Tip: Premier Inn Uttoxeter consists of two buildings and the ratings relate to two rooms occupied by our...

Rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The girl explained to us about add on breakfast etc when we checked in and when it was served so that was handy to know. It is right next to a restaurant which was lovely. I don't think I would personally pay peak prices for here but for £49 it's great.

Stayed here overnight on short break to Alton Towers. This hotel is ideal. Only a 10/15 minute drive to/from Alton Towers. Clean comfortable rooms, friendly staff. Breakfast a bit pricey though. Would definitely go back.

We were visiting alton towers, and this was perfect at £29 for a simple stop over! Subway outside which made for a cheap breakfast, although breakfast in the table table seemed great value. The room was clean and had everything we need. My only issues were the unfriendly staff!! No one asked us what we were doing or even how our stay was....we just didn't feel very welcome!! Apart from that....if its cheap, get it booked!!
