“Good family hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights in May 2013 and had 2 days park tickets. Hotel was exceptionally clean and very well looked after. We stayed in a standard room, there were 2 adults and a toddler in a cot, I think if you're travelling with 2 children it would be worth paying the upgrade for more space in a Thomas Room. All the staff I came across where polite and friendly. Buffet breakfast was exactly as I imagined with a good choice of generally well cooked food. We ate in the Grill restaurant one night which although nice we found it a bit pricey for what was on offer, we ate off site the second night. The Thomas section of the park is very nice, our 2 year old enjoyed it as well as some of the rides in the other areas of the park. Some areas of the park did look in need of a bit if TLC but generally all fine. Only moan would be during our stay the weather wasn't great and an indoor play area, in the hotel or maybe the Grill restaurant would have been fab, there was a nice outdoor play area behind the hotel but not much good in the rain.

We stayed here May 11th 2013 for one night. Our son is 4 and daughter 2. They absolutely loved this hotel and all its features, we stayed in a Thomas Room which was fantastic and I'd highly recommend this room if you have children as the normal family rooms aren't the best.

We had our evening meal at the grill inn which was fine, nothing special but nice "pub grub"

We had the character breakfast which was lovely and our children really enjoyed themselves.

A lot of the reviews on here are unfair and if you want a nice family night away then we would definitely recommend Drayton Manor.

Stayed here for 1 night & stayed in a Thomas themed room which was expensive but it was a treat for my sons 8th birthday. I was very under whelmed. The room was dirty there was a moldy bath mat in the bath. We found a purse by the side of the bed which shows the room hadn't been cleaned properly. We reported this to reception & we were given free tickets to go into Drayton Manor theme park. We booked a garden view room & all we could see was a utility area with a dumper, shed & unused bags of building materials. The restaurant was really nice & the themed breakfast was very good also. I wouldn't stay here again. The pillows & quilts were as thin as paper.

We had an over night stay at Drayton manor which proved to be wonderful great rooms great food good parking and really good staff.we were attending a function in the conference dining and ballroom which again was top notch, intact the only minor complaint would be that you have to walk from the hotel to the ballroom which is not a covered walkway so if you are in your dress suit or ball gown and it was raining this could be a problem ,and they need to sort this out. But if you are just staying at the hotel then this would not concern you other wise first class.

Room Tip: No need all the rooms are excellent

My family and I have stayed twice now at the Drayton Manor hotel!
We choose interconnecting rooms so that my 3 and 6 year old can have their own room! The rooms we have had are ultra spacious with excellent facilities! The beds are big, clean and comfy and tea and coffee making facilities are a nice touch! Bathrooms are clean, modern and have nice toiletries. LCD Tv is a hit too!
They have a lovely foyer in the hotel with a super thomas tank themed musical carousel which is simply delightful. Also a few play tables in the lobby too which my sons loved. The breakfasts are lovely! Help yourself buffet! Good food and good service in the mornings, but......

Now for the negatives.....the Thomas souvenir shop at the hotel is ridiculously expensive!
The meals in the restaurant in the evening are very standard and not worth what you pay. The first time we stayed here we ate elsewhere so were not aware but the second time we had to eat there and too be fair, I was disappointed! Lovely service but the food didn't match! Kids portions were fine but I was a bit jealous when my 6 year olds chocolate cake was massive compared to our adult mediocre trifle. Be wary when booking interconnecting rooms as they seemed to look the wrong way giving the kids side all the control?? We had to stuff a sock in the lock to save the kids from locking themselves in! We chain locked the door for safety from the external corridor which meant that the door to the corridor was not an option to unlock things.....

Room Tip: Don't eat there in the evenings! Be wary over the door between interconnecting rooms!!

On arrival at the hotel i was struck by the lovely fresh smell in the reception area. The reception has a magical feel to it with the beautiful Thomas themed musical carosel and the thomas charactors. The staff on reception were very helpful and friendly.
The room was very nice and was spotlessly clean and we all slept well.
We chose the stay, play and dine package so ate in the Parklands resturant. The resturant was very well presented and clean and the staff very attentive. The Thomas play tables were a godsend as my little boy loved playing on them between courses! The food was a bit of a let down as it was not of a high quality which is a shame as the hotel itself is. Next time we will just book the stay and play and eat at the Grill Inn across the road as recommended in other reviews.
Breakfast was much better than dinner!
All in all i would recommend this hotel, we had an amazing weekend!

I am extremely pleased you had a great time whilst staying with us here at Drayton Manor Hotel, and that our breakfast offering, service staff and cleanliness of the hotel met your expectations. However, I am a little dissappointed that you found our food offering was a let down. I have passed these comments on to the Head chef at the hotel to review with the kitchen team.

We stayed at the hotel in one of the Thomas the Tank engine Suites ,there was air conditioning and heating controls, heated towel rail, shower and bath with good quality toiletries. The hotel also has a play park for the kids, parents can sit outside enjoying a meal/drink while the kids play, the park is far away enough to enjoy the quiet time away from the kids but still close enough to see the kids and keep a watch over them. We cannot fault it, the place was friendly and clean, rooms were excellent, food was good too, we will be going back there again.

Room Tip: Thomas suites are quiet and no noise can be heard from other rooms
