Got a room for the night at a bargain price just for a quick stop over. Perfect little place just off the main road so was quiet. Donna on the front desk was lovely, polite and attentive. We ate at the restaurant attached which was also good food and quick service without feeling rushed in any way. Would happily stay here again.

Conveniently placed 5 minutes from Tamworth Snowdome with the added advantage of a Beefeater next door. The rooms are clinical but clean and with adequate room for a family of 4.The hotel is either very new or has recently undergone refurbishment with carpets and paintwork in very good condition. The bathroom was immaculate and it was nice to have a bath with plenty of very hot water available. If luxury is what you are looking for then you do not get that here but what you do get is a clean and comfortable stay at very reasonable prices. The Beefeater next door has various offers available and certainly worth checking out their special menus available before 630pm

It's a Premier Inn, we've stayed in them before and always been fine and got what we expected.
We travelled down in the snow and were to relieved to arrive in one piece! We checked in and after being in the room for about an hour we realised the room wasn't warming up despite us turning the heating up. In fact, the vents were blowing out COLD air (bear in mind this was on a very cold night with heavy snow!).
Reported to reception who said would look into whilst we were at dinner, upon our return the receptionist advised that the heating was basically broken in 3 rooms on ones side (including ours - Room 14 for others to note), the room was fully booked and the heater had gone missing (we suspect the heater had already been given to occupants of another chilly room). There was nowhere we could go as we were basically snowed in and so we were given extra duvets.

We did get a refund, but what annoys me is that is was evident the hotel was aware of this problem before we checked in and they shouldn't have been renting out the room at all particularly on a very snowy, cold night. We paid more than we usually do for a Premier Inn.

Location just a few minutes from family we were visiting was the main reason for staying here. Probably wouldn't again. Place is okay, clean, room comfy if a bit bland (where do they buy those awful pictures) but completely characterless and unwelcoming. Would be okay for a night or two night if you get a deal at £30 or so, but we paid over £60. Had we elected for hot breakfast cost would have been around £85, for which you could stay in one of the far cosier hotels in the town centre with proper facilities and a hearty fry-up. We had lunch in the pub next door which was ghastly; huge mistake. Just not our sort of place I guess...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Premier Inn Tamworth South. The UK's fist greenest hotel bringing together the best environmental initiatives to help us towards a greener future. With our 20 ensuite bedrooms, flat screen free view TVs, adjoining restaurant (The Centurion Table Table), Air-cooling and 24hr reception. We are one of a very select few that is a Green Hotel. Here is why we are Green.1)We heat and cool the hotel using the earth's natural energy using a special underground pump. Four heat probes, 130 metres below our hotel, take advantage of the earths natural energy to dump heat in the summer and cold in the winter.2) Re-using water. All toilet flushes use grey (recycled) water - water re-used from showers and baths plus 50% of rainwater from the roof. This provides 100% off all toilet water and will save 20% of the entire water usage.3) Sustainable wool from British sheep is used in the walls creating exceptionally efficient thermal and acoustic insulation. Heat loss of the hotel is reduced by 60%4) Solar power. Solar panels have been used on the hotel's south facing roof. They can produce hot water to the system with almost no energy used. The system is expected to generate 11.740kWhr per year - enough for 1000 baths a year!5) All lighting is low energy thanks to LED's that produce high light levels while only using 5 Watts per bulb, this coupled with motion detectors means the lights are not left on. An 80% saving against standard lighting methods.6) All materials used are locally and sustainable sources. Timber is used rather than concrete where possible and when concrete is used it is a low cement that has been locally sourced. Our use of carbon has been reduced by using natural resources, sustainable materials, such as external timber cladding, and recycled materials, such as plasterboard and rendering. ... more   less
