“Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

The Sunday lunch market is a competitive one in Stone, so we thought we would put the bistro at Aston Marina through its paces. Lets get straight down to business, we went for the roast beef and yorkshire pudding for main, followed by a rather delicious dessert. The beef was cooked to perfection and was accompanied by a large yorkshire pudding, a generous portion of roast spuds and vegetables served with a tasty gravy. For dessert I opted for the brownie (award winning by all accounts), whilst my girlfriend had the sticky toffee pudding - both of these were very impressive and the plates were fully polished. Overall, at £15.95 for 2 courses, and £17.95 for 3, the Aston Marina bistro represents good value for money, tasty food and a welcoming atmosphere from friendly staff. Recommended, and we will return for gourmet pie night.

“Lovely restaurant and farm shop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Visited here many times, great for both a just having a coffee or a meal. The staff are always friendly. Aston marina is worth visiting if you like to walk too, with access to the marina and canal.

The alcohol is a little expensive.

The farm shop has a good selection of produce.

Overall a lovely place to visit for an hour or so.

“Long wait for cold soup”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

Second visit, sadly no improvement. Not busy but had to wait ages for a bowl of cold mushroom soup. Asked waitress for another and she must have gone on her break as it never arrived.
First visit ordered two main meals. Never arrived. Waitress said she had taken them to another table and would go and retrieve them!
Obviously, I refused and asked for new mains which when arrived they were luke warm.
Sadly we will not be returning.

“Quality dishes to suit all purse-strings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013

Impressed with the range of prices and quality of dishes. With four different levels of hunger, we were able to have exactly what suited our needs. Very light starters included game salad (partridge), normal starters: chicken terrine with quail's egg; salmon and smoked salmon fishcakes (which two of us had as our main) and then for the heartier mains: duo of duck or duo of beef with veg to suit the course. Including wine, dessert and coffee around £25 a head. Brilliant waitresses.. all serving with good level of humour and permanent, genuine smiles. No wonder the place was full.

Quality deli counter on the premises which is better value than some of the high class farm shops in and around Derbyshire.

This may become a favourite place for our group of friends to meet. Thank you.
