“Lovely family meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went here on the 17th August and had a lovely meal with our 2 young daughters (22 months and 4 months). Our eldest had a rump steak and she loved it!! My husband had a fillet steak and it was cooked just as he likes it.
It was a Saturday night and it was very busy so would advise booking.
We have been here several times and have never been disappointed, I sure we will be going there again in the future.

“Poor service, poor food, overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Went here for lunch for my husband's birthday - what a disappointment. Food/drinks order taken speedily, but 50 minutes later we were notified that there had been a problem with the printer in the kitchen so they had to re-take our order! Food eventually arrived about 65 mins after we had arrived, & when the waitress served us she spilt sauce on my husband's shirt, but didn't seem to think this mattered particularly. Cutlery not particularly clean. Food overpriced for what we got - no vegetables included & very small portions. We paid extra for "gourmet" chips, but all they were was slightly fatter frozen chips, certainly not gourmet. I know this is part of a chain, but prices charged were equivalent of restaurant prices without the food to match. Would have given 1 star but for the fact that, when asked the waitress did give a discount on our bill to recompense for the delay. Won't go again!

“Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

WE booked online & this couldn't have been easier.
Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager straight away & a waitress showed us to our table,we were left a couple of minutes before she came back for our drink order.
Throughout the meal the service was attentive without being intrusive.
The starters & main were lovely but the dessert wasn't very nice at all.(cream puff)
Overall a good experience.

“Expected as good as others in the chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

We decided on here as it is in the Vintage Inn chain of restaurants and had eaten in The Hedgehog in Lichfield and loved it. The menus were the same, as expected, and have a real diverse range of food and one of the best menus I've seen for a long time.

We had booked a table for a Saturday night and upon reaching the bar we were informed we'd have to wait for our table. This was a slight inconvenience, but we chose to have some drinks at the bar to pass the time. The manager greeted us as he didn't seem that welcoming, compared to the manager of The Hedgehog anyway.

After being shown to our table, the night improved greatly. We had three courses and all the food was cooked excellently and tasted wonderful. All of the people at our table really enjoyed it.

The waiting staff were very polite and helped us with whatever we requested.

For the quality of the food it is worth the price which isn't that expensive. It is a good homely, "Vintage Inn" with oodles of character in a wonderful picturesque location. I would visit again, but hope not to be greeted by the manager.

“Was expecting better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We went at Sunday lunch time so there was the main menu and a roast menu. I had roast chicken it came on an oblong plate not presented particularly well, very few vegetables and don't think they were fresh and all mixed together so if you didn't like one of them it was hard to seperare and not the warmest either. Partner had mixed grill, quite small for the price and some of it was burnt. My friend had turkey it was dry. As for deserts our little girl chose one off the children's menu which wasn't described particularly well and it wasn't what she expected but they wouldn't change it which I've never known a restaurant not to do. Wouldn't go again.
