“Delicious Meal, Fantastic Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Another of my many visits to the Tea Rooms. Had the homemade bacon and cheese flan off the specials board with the delicious homemade chips (I challange you to find better)! Service was excellent, staff are very happy and polite. I would also like to add that I've just seen about dogs not being welcome and would like to inform anyone reading of the truth. Walkers are very welcome, muddy boots and all however due to hygiene reasons they can't allow dogs in to the restaurant area. However if it is a fair day then there is a seating area outside where walkers are more than welcome with dogs. I don't know about you but I wouldn't fancy eating a nice meal with a dog sat at the next table and risk finding a dog hair and spoiling it. The staff try their very best to accomodate all customers in the best way they can. Will definitely be back again very soon!

“Very nice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

We discovered this restaurant whilst out walking a few weeks ago and called in for a hot drink. The food looked and smelled divine, so we booked a table for Sunday lunch yesterday with our mothers, as a birthday treat. We were not disappointed! There was soup, sandwiches, chips, a choice of 2 roasts with all the trimmings and fabulous home-made puddings, so you can eat as much or as little as you wish. During the week there are also breakfasts available. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. It's not licensed here, but you can take your own alcohol. The room was quaint and cheerfully-decorated, with a real country feel, and nice and warm too. There's a lovely little gift shop as well. We'll be back!

We went to the old school tea room because of the high praises from tripadvisor. We ordered a couple of desserts. We were very disappointed. The food was poor quality, quite soggy. We expected a lot more. Overall, is was a let down.

“Walkers welcome - but not your dogs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

Much is made on the website of the walks in the beautiful surrounding countryside and how ideally located the Old School Tea Rooms are - just as shame that if you happen to have your dog with you then you're not welcome.
(and no mention on the website, either).
So would have liked to try a cup of tea and a piece of cake, but was not to be, hence the rating...

“Saturday late lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

Popped in to the old school rooms as we were passing by and had read good reviews. Some parking is available around the back.
I was not disappointed. We had a pot of tea for two that was quickly provided by a very cheerful waitress.
We ordered a chicken tikka baguette with extra chips. Plus a sausage n mash from the specials board, this was real mash and great sausages supplied by a local butcher with garden peas and carrot and swede mash with lashings of gravy.
All for a very reasonable price.
