11 of us went for a late Sunday lunch and experienced excellent food, beer and service in a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

“So much better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We went to Lazy Trout in Meerbrook Staffordshire twice this week we went for Lunch and the food was so good we booked to go again for an evening meal on Saturday. The food was really good and the service was first class. The menu is not large but there is plenty to choose from and is quality and the servings of a good size. It was really busy so would suggest making a reservation but there is lots of linked rooms so it is bigger inside that it looks from the outside. We went a few years ago and did not enjoy our visit but the new owners (been there about 2-3 year) have made a big changes and it's now a lot cleaner and the food is so much better. A great country style pub and resturant well worh a visit.

“Welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

This was our second visit as we have visited my mother in the area for her birthday and taken her to The Lazy Trout for lunch two years running. If we lived closer, we would definitely eat there more often. This is a very welcoming pub and the food, though not at the high end, is always beautifully cooked with fresh ingredients. My husband chose the beef lasagne and said that it was the best he had ever tasted. He also had chips which were really excellent. I had creamy Cajun chicken with beautifully cooked chargrilled vegetables and lovely moist and herby rice. We also had garlic bread which was fantastic! Not usually over fond of creamy sauces, but this was very nice. Mum, who does not eat much, had minestrone soup with croutons and two types of very fresh bread. The service is so friendly and obliging - nothing is too much trouble.

“Good Food Reasonably Priced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

I have been about 3 times in the last year, each time both food and service were excellent.

Food was hot and prompt with no waiting. Menu choice was fine.

Not a top notch fine dining gastro pub, but somewhere between normal pub and gastro pub. Food is definitely better than normal "bog standard" pub grub.

“poor food!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

Nice pub and staff were very friendly, good atmosphere. The food however was horrendous, we had a roast that was cold, the gravy was stupidly thin and the deserts were also poor (cold, burnt in places and slightly stale).

Will definately not be eating there again!
