“Superb food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We keep coming back to the Lazy Trout for the delightful food . Its real food made from scratch by Will and his staff . The stock for his french onion and oxtail soup is often simmering on the Esse woodburning stove in the walkers section of the pub.We had lunch today and again it was scrumptious and piping hot. There is usually a good selection of real ales too.

“traditional country pub.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

This is a lovely traditional country pub, the menue is a bit different from your usual pub menue, i had stew with veg with a chicken leg on the top, with crusty bread, it was very tasty, for afters we had apple crumble and custard, delicious.
It is also a pub for walkers with their dogs to stop at.

“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We came across this pub whilst out looking at property and going for a drive. As we walked towards the pub one of their customers was standing outside he greeted us. Walked inside to be greeted again by a lovely girl behind the bar. As we asked for food she told us there was a party of 20 arriving soon so we ordered right away. I had the belly of pork sandwich and my girlfriend had the chip butty. We sat by a lovely fire as it was wintery outside, inside of the pub is lovely with stone walls and a cosy feel. When the food arrived it was massive, thought how will I eat all this but we did! Great value, Great service with a nice smile. The party of 20 arrived soon after we sat down, after our fill we waved them all goodbye with the same guy we met on the way in also saying goodbye ....we went off for a walk around the area which was beautiful and free of traffic, ook forward to another vist. Thanks Guys....

“christmas day dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

This is the perfect way to spend time with family at Christmas. Log fires made the restaurant beautifully cosy, the staff were warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We were not harrassed or rushed through our meal so we all felt relaxed which added to our enjoyment.
The food was perfectly cooked and LOTS of it. Fabulous!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Great food, good staff, nice setting. This is a 'throw back' pub to the old days when pub food was about the food...simple, tasty and hearty! No Thai Fishcakes, skinny fries or £4 bottles of Peroni in sight! Great place...very busy so book ahead. The boiled ham is amazing!
