“Relaxing and Refreshing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

We found the ideal 'Get-Away' bed & breakfast, even when the weather was at it's worst. Peter & Pearl share their lovely home, with personal & professional attention to detail. Comfortable bed, great ensuite, everything a hotel would offer, including the little extras. It's in a pretty location, with canal, river, steam trains, very good pubs close by. The beautiful area is full of attractions for all ages, parking is ample, in all you can't go wrong with this central place to stay.

I made a late booking for myself and my dog over the phone. I couldn't believe how helpful and lovely both Peter and Pearl were. I was put in the best room with my dog which was amazing as usually the rooms where dogs are welcomed are not usually quiet as good!
The room was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and the shower was good. The full english breakfast was great. The Garden house bed and breakfast was good value for money and a luxurious standard. I certainly would stop again.

The whole experience of staying here was excellent. The room was lovely and very well equipped, even though the dog was welcome aswell as some places you stay give you a sub standard room when you have a dog this was not the case here as I think we had the best room with a four poster bed. Peter and pearl are very welcoming and make you feel like one of the family especially as all the guests have breakfast together around their breakfast table. Lovely walks and pubs nearby.

We stayed at the Garden House during the Summer whilst visiting family nearby and Alton Towers. The family room more than adequately housed 2 adults and 2 children. My sister and son also stayed at the B&B in other rooms. After a long weary day at Alton Towers we were all able to relax in the lounge watching a DVD and eat a take-away meal. It really felt like home and the owner Peter made us feel very comfortable and at ease. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were superb with lots of choice and cooked to order too! Would definitely visit again if we were in the area and also recommend to others.

We were made most welcome by our host, Peter, and nothing was too much trouble. The green bedroom was charming. Breakfasts were cooked to order and you could have oatcakes, kippers or smoked salmon if you wanted. It is a pity it rained so much that we couldn't sit on the beautiful terrace. A comfortable lounge to relax in. Would definitely recommend it - beautiful walks along Manifold Valley nearby and the Churnet Valley railway round corner (Wednesdays & Sundays only). 'The Boat' Pub nearby canal did a good supper.

Room Tip: Three bedrooms are on 2nd floor up steep stairs so ask for a lower floor if you need it.

Thank you for your comments much appreciated, we feel we are situated in an ideal location for exploring the beautiful Churnet Valley and the Peak District. Especially if you can combine walking with a scenic ride on the steam train. Our public houses in the village served good quality food at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for.
Thanks Peter and Pearl Dalley

It was our first visit to the garden house, but would defintely go back again. A lovely b+b spotlessly clean and very peacefull and quiet. The owners peter and pearl were lovely people who was very welcoming, helpful and freindly, nothing was too much trouble.
We was lucky enough during our stay to have some late afternoon sun, the garden is lovely and we sat out on the terrace and had a few cold beers, heaven!
We stayed in the black and white room it was lovely, bed was comfy and the finishing little touches were great, chocolates by the bed, biscuits, toiletries very thoughtful. The breakfast was very good too, something for everyone a choice of, cerials, fresh fruit, yogurts and juices, followed by a lovely cooked breakfast and then a choice of toast and jams, we couldnt fault any thing at the garden house during our stay. Many thanks.
