We were made most welcome by our host, Peter, and nothing was too much trouble. The green bedroom was charming. Breakfasts were cooked to order and you could have oatcakes, kippers or smoked salmon if you wanted. It is a pity it rained so much that we couldn't sit on the beautiful terrace. A comfortable lounge to relax in. Would definitely recommend it - beautiful walks along Manifold Valley nearby and the Churnet Valley railway round corner (Wednesdays & Sundays only). 'The Boat' Pub nearby canal did a good supper.
Three bedrooms are on 2nd floor up steep stairs so ask for a lower floor if you need it.

Thank you for your comments much appreciated, we feel we are situated in an ideal location for exploring the beautiful Churnet Valley and the Peak District. Especially if you can combine walking with a scenic ride on the steam train. Our public houses in the village served good quality food at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for.
