“Christmas Do”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

We stayed at this Travelodge as it was my partner's Christmas do,the staff where friendly and helpful on a arrival explain everthing clearly the room was nice clean and the bed was the sort that you don't want to get out of .The railway station was only a couple of minutes away and the town centre is well within walking distance 10-15 minutes

Great value for money, Right in front of the train station.
Comfortable and with a meal and bar service.
Great staff who behave like they are in a five star hotel.
I had room 102 and it had a sliding window which led to a wide windowsill which acted beautifully as a chiller for my water and juice!!! Worked a treat in the absence of a mini bar

Very conveniently located for rail travel and close to town centre/restaurants etc this hotel is an ideal base. The staff are welcoming and efficient and the breakfast is very good value. Rooms are basic but comfortable clean and warm and the beds are very comfortable. Despite location on a busy road and by station the rooms offer a quiet night's sleep. There is ample parking if driving. Tea and coffee is available in rooms and there is a bar downstairs open all hours where service and prices are good. Wi-fi is available although I didn't use it. My only criticism is that they don't provide a hair dryer so take your own if you don't have a bad hair day! i have stayed on two occasions so far and would certainly use it again.

I booked into here with a bit of trepidation - I vowed never to stay in a Travelodge again after a traumatic experience in Cardiff, but on the advice of others, I went ahead.

Actually, I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was huge, and had nice feature beams - part of the old building which I believe was some kind of grain warehouse.

Everything else was standard Travelodge - you know what to expect - but it did have a late bar which was handy, if not especially atmospheric.

Breakfast, though, was a bit forgettable. Stick to the continental if I were you.

The best part is the location, which is pretty central to town, and within walking distance of loads of pubs and the train station.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms are good.

Everything was wonderful about my stay from the greeting on our arrival to the comfy, warm room. A great night's sleep on an extremely comfortable bed and a hearty breakfast. All served by a great young chap, not sure of his name (sorry). I will definitely be returning and due to my work in London I will be seeking out Travelodge there too.

When you pull up outside you may feel slightly disappointed but don't worry. As a budget hotel this one is probably one of the nicest I've stayed in. Friendly staff, clean large rooms, comfortable beds. All you need for a good nights stay.

For £35 a night the room is clean comfortable quite and exceptional value. Staff are friendly and helpful but they are under-resourced - 10mins at the bar waiting for someone to show up (reception also unmanned) - for which they were very apologetic. Strange stale drain smell on entering the room which dissipated once the shower had been used. Breakfast is poor - stale dried out bread and food left out for too long on the buffet - scrambled eggs were getting crusty. Much better to be found at Rumbletums Cafe a short 2-3mins walk down Station Street - fresh cooked for half the price. In short great value, great staff, poor breakfast!
