“Clean, friendly, three star stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

We stayed for a weekend with a Livingsocial voucher, which was an absolute bargain. It is most definitely a three star hotel, a little worn around the edges but more than made up for by the fantastic staff and good food. Our room was spotlessly clean, not quite what I expected for an 'executive double' but great for the price. Breakfasts are freshly cooked and plentiful, the restaurant does beautiful food at night although the portions are rather small. The National Brewery Centre is just down the road and is a really interesting half day out. The pub across the road is a free house and a real ale drinker's delight. Jee Ja Jee's is an excellent Indian restaurant almost next door. Ten minutes drive to the National Memorial Arboretum which is also worth a visit - but bring your walking shoes! All in all a great weekend.

We stayed here for a 2 night break using a living social voucher we had bought. We were very pleased with the hotel, the room was a good size and very clean, the bed was also comfortable. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Location wise it is excellent for the town centre as you are a few minutes walk away and there are lovely places you can reach by car. As part of our deal we had a 3 course meal on the first night which was excellent, very tasty. Breakfast was also included and there was lots of options to pick from, again it was very tasty. I would definitely return.

My husband and I stayed end of October 2013. We arrived and were partially showed to our room i.e the lift. The room was very very dated, old furniture, carpets, curtains and the very squeaky floorboards. The first night included a 3 course meal, which we could not fault it was delicious and the staff on duty that day were excellent. Sleep was really bad, the bed springs were so uncomfortable, and again the floorboards from the person upstairs was so loud. You also knew when they were in their bathroom. Breakfast was very good. All in all, staff and food were excellent but hotel itself, very old, needs updating dramatically. Would I stay here again, probably not.

Room Tip: back of hotel top floor

1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

Following a most enjoyable 2 nights stay at Three Queens Hotel in late September, we booked an advertised 2 nights New Year's Eve/New Year's Day Festive Break which included breakfast both days, Gala dinner and disco on New Year's Eve with 'a bottle of bubbly', dinner on New Year's Day, paying a £100 deposit on 25th October to secure the reservation. In accordance with T & C the balance was paid over the phone on 7th December. However, on 11th December we received a phone call from an obviously very embarrassed receptionist to tell us the whole event, including of course our planned break, was being cancelled with apologies and the money we had paid would be refunded; but as a gesture of 'goodwill', if we were interested, a complimentary meal in the restaurant! We live 93 miles away from Burton on Trent so hardly somewhere we would go for an evening meal! We cannot emphasise how disappointed and let down by the management of the hotel, at a time far too late for us to rearrange anything else. We emailed the hotel on 11th December expressing our feelings about how we, and no doubt other potential guests, had been treated and expecting a response. However, it's not surprising we haven't received even acknowledgement, let alone a proper reply, judging by the shabby way we have been treated. The staff at the hotel were a delight when we stayed in September and, at the time, we gave an excellent review; one of the reasons we were keen to return.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

We were given a weekend at this hotel as a birthday present. We parked easily, there always seemed to be a few spaces n the hotel car park. We checked in and were allocated room 30, I notice that a previous visitor was given the same room and found it unacceptable, we found room 30 absolutely fine. It was a good size and contained everything that you would expect and need. The bathroom was extremely clean and well kept. The duvet on the bed was one of the most comfortable we have experienced. Staff at all times went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, the building is intriguing, I certainly would have liked to have a good look round!
