Standard holiday inn - clean, good sized room, comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was pretty decent - good choice continental plus sausages (cheap tasting), beans & scrambled eggs. The staff were efficient, happy & very friendly (although we stayed on a Friday night & the hotel wasn't busy). Burton is probably just about walkable from the hotel but we got a taxi to a restaurant in the town & it only cost £5. There are pubs, restaurants & fast food next to the hotel though. The only annoyance that we had was that the dining room at breakfast was absolutely freezing - I'm guessing that the heating was broken. Overall though, for the price we paid, this was really good value for money.

Dear Kleb99,

I am delighted that you enjoyed your recent stay with us. We did have a problem with the public area heating and we are in the process of rectifying the issue.

I was pleased to read that you found the staff pleasant and enjoyed our complimentary breakfast.

I would like to thank you for your feedback and look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind Regards

Exactly what you expect from a holiday inn express. Clean well equipped rooms, comfy beds, decent bathroom, free buffet breakfast, rip off Internet charges. Come on holiday inn-sort this out!

Dear loggirl,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay and was pleased that you found it a positive experience.

Yes we do charge for internet access in the hotel. However we have worked hard to reduce the costs to our guests by changing provider last year resulting in an over 50% reduction in the cost of access for guests. As guests want an ever increasing bandwith to be able to use devices such as tablets and smart phones to stream video etc we have had to invest in greater bandwith which does unfortunately have a cost.

Once again many thanks for your feedback. I look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

Dear Mo Z,

Thank you for choosing the Holiday Inn Express Burton-Upon-Trent and for sharing your experience with us. Sorry to hear you did not receive the front desk service as you expected. This is certainly not a norm for our hotel and we would definitely look into that. We do offer the complimentary breakfast, and Peeler's restaurant and bar are to keep you entertained. Please be aware only standard room type is guaranteed if you book your room through a third party website. We highly recommend to call us directly in order to secure the room type of your needs. Again we thank you for your review and hope to welcome you back soon.

Sincerely,
Lin S.

Stayed just for one night while visiting friends in Burton. Found the hotel rooms clean and everything just as it should be.Staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome.Breakfast was basic continental with the addition of scrambled eggs, beans and sausage which was great. There is a pub next door and a McDonnalds across the road so handy for weekend visitors.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony and a sea view...the staff love it.

Stayed here 28/10/11 to go to Alton towers next day, it's about half an hour away! My sat nav couldn't find it but we managed by putting in Wellington road, it's just off a McDonald's and a pc world/currys the room was nice and clean and staff friendly, the only downside was the breakfast, yes it is complimentary but I've had way better, they struggled to keep up with the hot food and also plates and cutlery wern't kept stocked up, we would stay here again though!

Dear Jmax1,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience following your stay with us. As it was half term we were full that weekend and did get caught out by the volume of guests coming down for breakfast at the same time. We have since put in procedures to ensure we manage these situations better particularly in replenishing the buffet,

Please accept my apologies for the shortfall in service you experienced. I am confident that the next time you stay with us you will see a marked improvement. I notice from you comments that you were going to visit Alton Towers. This year Alton Towers have new rides and we have manged to get improved discounted tickets to offer our guests. If you are considering a trip to Alton Towers do contact me on davidp@exhiburton.co.uk.

I look forward to welcoming you back to the Holiday Inn Express Burton upon Trent in the near future.

Kind Regards
