They just haven't thought through their procedures well enough. The signage is terrible and they have surplace staff in one place and shortage in another.
The hotel is also beginning to look a bit tired.

My partner and I tend to visit Alton Towers at least once a year and have only once made the mistake of not staying at the Alton Towers resort. The hotel itself is lovely but could do with being freshened up a bit. The rooms are always very clean and you get all of the extras you would expect in a 3* hotel. We have stayed in the hotel on 3 or 4 occasions as well as the neighboring Splash Landings Hotel and think this is an absolute must if you are visiting the park. You get to go in to the park an hour before anyone else which is a bonus (I will note here that not all of the rides are open during this hour, only selected ones.) Every time we have stayed at either of the hotels we have booked a deal (most recently we got our hotel room and park tickets for £99), I feel like if you book outwith one of the deals it can be quite pricey for a 3* hotel. All in all we always enjoy ourselves and have never had any problems. I would also recommend the restaurant in the Splash Landings hotel as it's a buffet and the selection is wonderful. The 2 restaurants in the Alton Towers hotel don't have a great selection.

Stayed here for a couple of nights as a mid-xmas break with the kids, our first time at the hotel and resort, and it will not be our last!

Warm welcome from reception and the room was lovely spacious and clean, we even had a few visitors on the window-sill in the form of a squirrel and ducks which the kids loved!

The water park was brilliant spent most of each day in here with the kids, though it was very busy! People must be up at the crack of dawn to get the chairs. The other entertainment, face painting, singers, films all top notch.

The restaurants get a special mention, as my wife has Celiacs and so needs to be careful about gluten intake, the chefs came out at each meal to discuss options, very impressed! Though we only went to the Garden Room restaurant, as we assumed catering for Celiacs would be difficult in a buffet setting .

Room Tip: Don't bother with Splash Landings Hotel, doesn't offer much apart from being more expensive.

I thought it was a brilliant hotel! Fun for all the family! Was terrific, entertain and just generally enjoyable. Although I do think the cost was slightly high, even though it did allow all the family access to the theme park

Never stayed at a Alton towers hotel before so didn't know what to expect , I got there and it was great really nice theme and lovely staff at check in. We got into the room and we has a Double bed and single with a mattress on the floor , all bed where really comfortable even the mattress. The restaurant was lovely for tea and breakfast and not over priced. The only problem was that you could hear when the whole corridor enters there room as the doors banged every time they shut so it was rather annoying at 11:30 when people where trying to sleep. But over all great stay and would definatly come again.

I went with my partner and our 3 daughters (aged 5, 8 and 13) for a festive break.
The room was great, maybe a little small for all 5 of us, but we didn't spend that much time in it.
There was free wifi connection which was easy to get for the 13 year old and the younger girls loved the shows. The waterpark was fantastic, definately the highlight of the trip.
The drinks prices where expensive. The food was lovely. We ate in the Splash Landings hotel for evening meal and the Alton Towers Hotel for breakfast. Lots of choice and all well cooked.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
