You'd never expect a Wednesday night at the Wincanton Tandoori to to be absolutely chocker at 6pm but it basically was with every table either occupied or reserved! Now that is probably a great testament to the food served here! Luckily, they were able to create a table for the 5 for us towards the rear of the dining area.
As more and more people piled in that evening, we knew they would be hard pressed to maintain service levels. Initial drinks, poppadoms & pickles arrived in a reasonable timeframe but it probably took 30m for the starters (OB x 2, Aloo Chat and Brinjal Pakora) to arrive. The starters were perfectly fine and very enjoyable.
The mains (Chicken Korma, Vegetable Vindaloo, Vegetable Dupiaza, Vegetable Bhuna, Mixed Tandoori Grill) took a lot longer to be delivered and I did wonder at one point if we had been forgotten amongst the sheer numbers of people being served. But our meals turned up at around 7:30pm and despite their obvious workload in the kitchen, the food was great.
Then bizarrely, at 8pm the place was thankfully quieter and we were able to relax a little more with coffees and kulfis. Total cost for the five of us was £75.
