Excellent curry house with friendly staff, good choice and reasonable prices with plenty of parking opposite.

“Delicious Curry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Wow amazing curry thanks and reasonably priced. Liked the new Bangla beer too. Service was good, food came out very quick between starters and mains so felt a little rushed but could not fault the food whatsoever.

“Good food & great service!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Having had a few takeaways from the Bengal Spice I finally got round to visiting the restaurant for a meal with friends. I was not disappointed. The standard of the food was very good and the service was even better.
A good selection of meals available with good portion sizes. And the prices very reasonable. The only negative for the restaurant was the decor, the place could do with decorating.
I will definitely visit again.

“Excellent Indian restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

We have just been for the first time and cannot fault it in anyway.

The food was beautifully cooked with large portions for even the hungriest of people. Staff friendly and welcoming all served in a nice environment.

Obviously very popular with local residents as the take away side was very busy and the owner seemed to recognise everyone.

We will definitely be going back.

“extremely disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Just been to the Bengal Spice Restaurant for our anniversary, have got to say the best thing were the poppodoms and the array of chutneys, yoguart dips etc, after that it was down hill. We ordered vegetable and lamb samosas they were extremely oily but very crisp with little taste.
I had the Chicken Tikka Tandoori well it was just dyed chicken no spices no yoguart nothing The chicken was moist though. So for an authetic Indian it was not good. So I have taken this opportunity to give one of my receipes,.

1kg chicken fillets, cut into pieces ¼ cup natural yogurt 2½ teaspoons fresh ginger, minced 2½ teaspoons fresh garlic, crushed 50ml vegetable oil 2½ teaspoons salt 1½ teaspoons ground cumin 3 teaspoons garam masala (indian spice mix) ½ teaspoon hot chilli powder (optional) 4 teaspoons lemon juice 2-3 pinches of tandoori colour or turmeric powder or 5 teaspoons sweet paprika powder (for colour) Garnish: 1½ teaspoons chat masala (tangy spice mix) 3 teaspoons lemon juice onion rings Fresh coriander, chopped. I know its a liberty but I am sorry it was not good.

My husbands Lamb curry Balti was ok, it had some good flavours and had lots of sauce.

It is such a shame, I am so sorry but Give a little less but better quality.

I will come back just to see if things have improved.
